Recently I've put on some more weight than I wanted to, due to stress and work including my diet. Now I work on my feet throughout the day but has anyone got any tips or tricks to lose weight and get rid of my chubs

Embrace it mate. Never feel ashamed of your shape. Unhappiness with it will only make you miserable

Yeah I know but confidence comes down to how people see you and how comfortable you are

Personally I prefer a dad bod and I think you’ll find many women do! Don’t change who you are for everyone else, a glimpse at you is over in seconds for them but you have to live with yourself forever.

I’m starting to try and get rid of my dadbod too. I’m ashamed of how much weight I’ve put on in the last 15 years. I used to be 9 stone in my early 20s and sometimes I’m 12.5 stone. It’s awful!

A few years ago I tried with an app called freeletics. It’s sort of free but you only get real benefits if you pay premium of course. It was for very serious gym-kinda guys which I’m not. It also sent you on runs and stuff which I found hard to do where I live so I’ve dropped it. A few weeks ago I downloaded an app called ‘7’ which is probably marketed more for women than men and is very much more for the average person - gym freaks wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole I’m sure but it suits me much better as no equipment is needed and you don’t need to go on long runs. All you need is a floor, a wall and a chair. I’m on its weight loss program and starting to notice the difference. I just do a couple of circuits a day. Leaves me very out of breath but I’m slowly getting fitter and leaner. Try either of the apps out and see if they suit you.

I've started putting on weight myself, I'm happy with the weight gain personally! Be positive in yourself.

What are you doing to tackle the stress and the work?

If they're affecting your health and wellbeing in a negative way then you need to address that, wouldn't you agree?

I’m on 3 day water fasting right now. Done 50 hours and 45 minutes thus far. Lost 6 pounds after 24 hours....

Cleanse the system, reboot blood cells, reduce blood pressure and cholesterol.

Kick starts a diet well ....

Me too..think I'll go for 4 days if I can though. Currently on 50 hours and about to go to bed so will definitely make it to 60 hours at least

I had read 72 hours was the best way.....and it worked for me last year. Lost 12 pounds and then went on to get down to target weight....4 days might be too much for me...

Someone mentioned it above but first of tackle the stress or at the very least give yourself an outlet for that stress.

Healthy eating and exercise will take care of the rest.

High protein/low carb diet - something that is achievable everyday.

Regular cardio based workouts.

You will see results.

However I would say if you are going to do it, make sure you are doing it for yourself and not how others see you - do it because you want to and not because it is what is expected of you.

Here and There

I’ve had brilliant results following a 16:8 eating pattern. So I have an eating window each day of 8 hours and fast for the other 16. Restricting your calorie intake to just those 8 hours make a big difference and is sustainable long term. I normally eat at 10, 2 and 6. I try to make better choices with what I eat and stick 3 meals rather than snacking. Good luck with whatever you do. Being uncomfortable with your body is hard.

I would add resistance training to this too. Weight training continues to burn calories after finishing and strengthens body etc.

In a way 4 days is easier than 3, or at least easier than two lots of 2 days. After the third day the food cravings lessen by a massive amount.

Body image was a big thing for me I was at the gym most days.

Until I used heavy weights the wrong way and burst my stomach muscles, I now have something called recti divarication and it makes me look like I drink 14 pints of Guinness a day

Anyway no help from NHS so Decided to go private had a scan and it showed I had a massive tumour on my right kidney

Turns out I had kidney cancer !!!!

I went into hospital 20th May and had the kidney and it's friend removed

So still stuck with my busted tummy but glad to be alive lol

Still body conscious but have now accepted it

Back to work next Monday and starting slowly at the gym to get my fitness levels up.

So please don't worry about the extra pounds just eat a bit healthier and maybe walk more instead of using the car.

Sorry this was a bit long

Andy

As others have said this needs to be something for you and not what you think others will think. There are significant health benefits to not carrying the extra weight but that's easier said than done for a lot of us. The main things you need to consider I would say are to avoid thinking of anything like a diet - it needs to be a lifestyle choice. Usually when we think of diet we think of denying ourselves what we like and it being somehow a temporary / short term thing before we get back to enjoying our eating. That approach, while often yielding success in the short term, more often than not leads to longer term failure and a cycle of diets. The second thing is exercise. Cardio exercise is awesome for the body in so many ways not least the endorphins that get released and help to give us a better mental state and positive energy.

Cash in on the dad bod thing, it's the new crazy, everyone else is.

No seriously the best thing you can be is just be comfortable in your own skin and confident with it. Great for your self esteem and that's probably one of the biggest traits people are attracted (or your actual body size/shape). If you want to be more trim just do something about it. But priority is just learning to love yourself as you are and being comfortable in your own skin.

If you want to lose weight its simple ...eat less calories than you burn.

You can either do this by exercise or watch your diet, preferably both.

There are no easy fixes just hard work x

Confidence is internal not about how others see you.

Eat less, move more. Find a way to make that work for you and reasons to do it. That's trite, but only you can find the path there.

Cardio is good....weight training better. A mix of the two awesome.

Eat less calories than you burn. If you want to lose weight then embrace feeling hungry. Make sure you hydrate and add in some exercise. Walking is great but getting heart rate up is best.

I understand the whole "embrace it" attitude but if you not conformable in how you look then embrace having the ability to change it by changing your lifestyle.

Wow! Very glad to be alive I bet!

That sounds like my farrier, he got kicked in the head and they then found he had a brain tumour, would have only lasted a few weeks but they mended it all!

Exercise is a lifestyle. A journey. No miracle overnight cure to lose weight. So, get running...NOW! If not, keep that flab. Your choice.

Op if you feel fat then all I can suggest is try and live a little more healthy.

I work shifts and along with family commitments etc I can let myself go, I hate the gym but I am out and about all day and night with work.

My suggestion is when you feel fat and grumpy give yourself a kick in the arse do some exercise and get some healthy food in you stay away from the Golden Arches etc and invest in some fresh fruit and veg, try writing a food diary of everything you eat and drink and try and cut the crap.

But all it boils down to is if you want to change then change but do it for yourself not do anyone’s opinion.

I know somebody else doing that too and said exactly the same thing. Quite fascinating. I'm happy though with intermittent fasting. Just started this week and feel great for it. I aim for 15 hours.

yeah in all honesty I use to eat healthy but since I've been stressed, I've been binge eating. But I've started a new job and it's going well

I chubbed up quite a bit when I had to stop exercising for 2 years; I'm now back cycling and running and the weight is slowly coming off. The real secret is a good balance of a good diet, moderate potion sizes and exercise . I find its best to slowly lose weight and establish a long lasting life style that helps you keep it off
