Whether in 2's, 3's or mores, you'll never be forced into something, as most people understand/respect the word 'no'. Otherwise, I'd recommend that your pre-meet preparation is as good as possible, for any type of meet, so that you can all clearly get a picture of what's wanted and being offered.
