Is it the case that we actually should respond to messages from 26 year old men if we have the statement below written on our profile? Turns out we’re really rude but I thought this was clear. Just checking. Feel free to abuse, troll etc..

‘If that all sounds good to you, feel free to get in touch. Please remember to check her age preferences, 40-50 only. We don’t want to seem rude by not reading messages from young men’

If you have been clear then it is the person who has ignored your profile information that is in the wrong.

There is never any cause for abuse, if someone does not answer then that is a no thank you and should be taken as such.

We have found that it rarely makes any difference whatever you put on your profile.

As others have suggested lock down your preferences on your message settings and certainly don’t feel obliged to reply to those who clearly haven’t respected them x

It’s really simple. If we change those settings then couples who are in a different age bracket would not be able to contact us. 40-50 is specifically for men. Couples are a totally different hing.

Then it's not rude because you have it on your profile. If you are looking for specifics then it's not rude if you don't reply to anyone who hasn't read your profile x

Can empathise with this. We are happy to hear from older couples but prefer younger men.

Unfortunately there’s not an option for this in preferences hence getting the unwanted messages.

We always send a polite reply. Although it isn’t always politely received!!

There's nothing wrong with that, and there's also nothing wrong with it if the recipient chooses not to answer.
