Some of the nicest ones I have had have stated why I'm bit for them and thanked me for getting in touch which in turn I have always wished them well.

Easy for me as it's either "sorry but you're too far away from" or "sorry but I'm not looking to meet anyone new atm" it does say both on my profile too!

If someone's WRITTEN a message to me but they're not for me. I auto reply with 'Not for me thanks, happy swinging.' Some need it sending more than once, if persistent I just block.

Mostly that works on the small percentage of mail directed to me and not copy and paste or the usual hey, hi, blah which get auto deleted.

I think a response is nice even to say no thank you. You don't need an essay just be nice and move on. And if you are the person getting the no then accept it an move on.

But given the toxicity of a great many men and their less than graceful acceptance of rejection (read abuse), I think it’s safer and less anxiety-inducing to simply ignore and delete the message.

I find it an acceptable response to my messages; I am not entitled to one anyway.

Maybe kindly state of your profile that no response is a polite decline?

Yes of course you’ll come across the fucktards who take rejection badly, perfect excuse to block and ignore.

Sorry but when you receive hundreds of messages per day no one has the time to reply to all those messages. People shouldn't take no reply personal, because it's not.

I ignore messages even though feel little guilt if it was a nice one. As on past experience no matter how polite and gentle you are people can get argumentative. No answer is an answer.

No need to apologise, like I say each to their own, I would add, that if someone has clearly not read your profile, and is totally not the kind of person you are seeking when it is clearly displayed clearly in your profile then I think ignoring is acceptable....

But if someone has read your profile, taken the time to write a well thought out and considered message then I do find it rude to be ignored.

Filters also help block those that won’t meet your criteria and will keep down the number of unsolicited messages you receive.
