What's everyones tips and tricks in spotting a timewaster?

There and to the left a bit

Pictures reverse image to multiple sites on the net

Veri trail is circular

Limited profile text

Want to go straight to sex chat when messaging

Refuse to send face pics or send ones which are indistinct and could be anyone

Want to move from here to Kik or WhatsApp etc straight away

None of these on their own necessarily mean fake or time waster of course, but a combination of them coupled with some common sense and due diligence is normally a good indication

I had a “girl” messaging over and over for a meet. Loved the other end of the country. Told her I was straight, she didn’t, care, just desperate to meet me. I said ok, can you do me a favour. Take a photo of you with your fab name as I’ve been duped so many times by guys pretending to be girls. Never heard from again. I wonder/worry who would have turned up had I agreed,

"The messages which clearly come from a man pretending to be the female of the couple, they’re usually easy to spot as men often have a more direct and blunt approach and always assume they’re messaging the female half of a couple. They often try to soften what they’re saying with a ‘hun’ etc.

If they haven’t been photo verified as a couple ask them to do it for you, just ask for a vanilla pic of them together holding up a certain item or piece of paper with a word on ... obviously some refuse to do this but the genuine ones who really want to meet don't usually have a problem with it.

Couples profiles full of photos of just the female half. That usually means the husband has opened a profile without his wife’s knowledge.

New profiles that close after a couple of days then open up with a new name but same pics a few days later.

Some will say no veris means they’re fake. We have no veris as the people we have met (socially) have not been verified so we’re stuck in that catch 22 position. And not everyone plays with people who are on this site.

The longer we’re on here the more cynical we become!

The WhatsApp thing isn’t an issue for us, pretty much everyone we’ve added on there we’ve met or at least verified on video as being genuine.

Our alarm bells are verifications within hours of a profile starting, them sending really short and not engaging messages, and sending a friend invite straight away

We have tried to make our profile easier by adding pics of the male half but he doesn’t like himself in pictures we also have verifications even though it’s me (mrs ) who answers 99% of male this is stated in profile we still have messages that assume it’s the male and more often than not they are the time wasters.

We tend to both use this, and will definitely wait until we’ve both seen a pm we’re interested in before responding. There’s a lot of guys posing as couples on here, not sure if they were genuine once or what.

Tin eye is really good though, we’ve caught loads on there, even one last week that had the profile name on a sheet of paper in her hand. Guy had cleverly got a profile name to match the photo

As a single guy have to try not to be too suspicious .. but generally you can tell when people speak to you I think

but basic ticklist

Dont sound like idiots

Agree to send a face picture not just direct you to profile nudes etc ..

To be fair I think single guys are the ones who people are the most cautious about ( rightly so in many cases ) so I try my best to reassure etc .. I have a webcam so am happy to say hi on there or skype etc

If in doubt though dont meet .. easiest thing to do to confirm they are at least real is to arrange talk on phone to both partners is cple of course .. and of course social meets are good too but some will be happy to meet without .

Unfortunately though there are quite a few timewasters and people pretending .. but maybe thats the kick they get from it ? who knows ?

On for over year, no verifications, or circular veris. Too good to be true. Or all veris hidden. Or disappear and reappear..

No green flag.

No recent veris if any at all.

Veris are all from hidden (fake) profiles.

No meets for the last year or so.

Sparse profile even though been on over a year.

Chat goes round in circles, avoiding setting a meet.

Won't give address even on day of meet.

Chats for months but avoids setting up a meet.

Keeps requesting photos while giving very few if any in return.

Claims has no face pic on FAB, so can't send one (Yeah attach a direct photo then !!).

Male pretends he's the female chatting (conversation style/words used exactly the same).

Goes offline for a day or two before the planned meet !.

Repeatedly claims she wants to meet but incredibly difficult to chat to on FAB and won't move to kik/WhatsApp/text even though my number provided.

Claims on holiday abroad but FAB distance stays local all the time (can flip between real and home in reality).

And so on....
