Pixilated pictures

Not sure if anyone can help me but when I try upload a picture the quality drops a lot!! And I’m trying to upload a face picture

Site supporters get to see HD images and non-supporters don’t. I don’t know if that applies to when you’re viewing your own pictures as well but it might explain it. If they look fine in the Manage Photos section but not fine on your profile then I think that will be why

No in my manage photos they’re terrible aswel, they’re fine on my camera roll on my phone tho?

Were the photos taken on the phone in question or copied across from somewhere else?

Are you uploading them direct or using the email feature?

Try uploading one direct to an email rather than via the gallery?

They were taken on this iPhone 7+ and uploaded straight! Sorry could you direct me to the email feature?

All my pics i export as 2048px on longest edge from lightroom mobile, tends to maintain quality and means less likely a site will overuse their own image reduction algorythms which tend to be less forgiving

If your not using something to edit photos which can output smaller images to upload then I've also used an app called "Photo & Picture Resizer" and select the option closest to 2048px for my phone camera resolution which is 50%

All our pics are taken on my iPhone X (apart from a couple of selfies by Mrs) and the quality on here looks good, we think?

Also descent lighting and steady hand or tripod help with sharper pictures or reducing noise/grain when the camera has to bump up the iso and drop the shutter speed to capture a reasonably exposed image

I totally get that but if you look at the last two photos I uploaded (which were a test) are terribly pixilated in comparison to the image I tried to upload. Just strange as previous picture arnt like that!! Il just use my proper camera whenever I get home :p

Are they clear on the originals as certain camera sensors react to single wavelength color led light (making assumption that red light is from led light source) in different ways and make pictures look blurry. Often manual settings result in better pictures under those conditions

Yeah I’ve done a lot of videography I understand a handheld camera but my point being is this is an iPhone 7 and I’ve never had an issue with uploading pictures to downscale that much. It’s a mystery haha thanks for your help tho much appreciated!! It could be the red light

Coloured LED lighting is an arse to photograph in without using manual settings as cameras tend to over/under expose due to wavelength intensity. If i remember from my gig shooting days Nikon hated red led lighting and Canon blue led lighting, not sure how other camera/phone sensors cope
