Morning, so a discussion I have just had. Do you see a difference between Friends with Benefits or Fuck Buddies?

To me a FWB is exactly that. Someone who is a friend before sex, that you can enjoy time with without sex, but enjoy sex with without the relationship status.

A FB is the opposite. Basically you only meet for sex, to scratch an itch as it were but don't have the real friendship aspect.

I have known both sides of this and both have their place in life...

I currently have a lovely Fwb who I've known for years and might post a story of how we became fwb's...

That's exactly how I see the two. They're very different things in my eyes. Fwb you can hang out together if nothing happens that's fine because it's a benefit if it does. FB is literally you only meet to fuck there's nothing else there. No chit chats. No hanging out. Just fucking then leaving.

I can’t see much of a difference but perhaps the FB is just a booty call wile the FWB is more of a cuddler pub visiting cinema going chilled playmate?

My view exactly, and why a true FWB is so hard to find and when it does happen, a very nice thing.

The only time it gets complicated is when feelings start to go beyond friends. It's a very fine balance.

Yeah, it's like that. Kind of dating but without the ties of a relationship.

I've got a fwb and it's great. I can call on him for coffee and a chat. And other times we don't even get to the coffee

That's lovely

I find that my fwb and I can talk about things she can't always with her husband. Maybe it's because we've known each other for many many years.

Sadly we don't get as much time to meet even for a coffee these days!

I think a FB can become a FWB so not necessary friends before sex.

But yea the difference is a FWB is a little more than just meeting up for sex.

I have a fb..its exactly that, we meet and have sex, that's it. A fwb I would think is someone who would want to hang out and be seen in public with me lol, and sometimes have sex x

I've never really considered them to be different, I've never had a regular "fuck buddy" that I didn't consider a friend.

For me, the best thing about having a FB/FWB is having someone to talk openly about about sex in a way that you don't with regular friends or in vanilla relationships... So I guess some sort of friendship is inevitable.

They are different. Like you say you’ve not had a FB before hence why you cant tell the difference between that and a FWB. See the explanations above.

Its all spectrum really and the there is things inbetween. Plus sometime these relationships/arrangments evolve anyway. At the end of the day your form relationships/arangments that mutually work for all of you. The dynamic can be what ever works and vary everytime.

I see it the same. However men often say they want FWB when in reality they're barely capable of FB.
