To me camp is loud and attention seeking and annoying, totally puts me off another male. They enforce stereotypes. I also see it as effeminate voice and mannerisms.

I have nothing against naturally effeminate males though who can not help their voice and mannerisms, just do not find them sexually attractive.

It's a really difficult thing to define, imo and it has more than one very narrow meaning. There's the heightened silliness of something bordering on extreme, that may be a man who's fairly out of the masculine league, in a stylised somewhat feminine persona, with often exagerated mannerisms. It's got a very longstanding connection to that one part of gay culture with such men in it, with those comedians such as Julian Clary listed above, still representative of it. There's often a kitsch element, reflective of that exageration and - imo - being something of an object of borderline taste/distaste towards the extremes of the norms of social 'normality', that can mean that camp doesn't need to relate just to people. It may be a room, a place or an object - perhaps Grace Jones, in her earlier years, epitomised aspects of camp, despite being a woman. Generally it would reflect the light aspsects of society and behaviour. Is Vladimir Putin camp, when he strips off and does his macho stuff? Trump often seems very camp to me, especially with his overdone hair and conversational exagerations - he'll flounce around, almost like an old, effeminate man, who you'd imagine did a lot of drag when younger, his facial mannerisms befitting of a seasoned drag performer.

I am hugely camp! My kids say if I was a man I would be the queen of drag queens!

In my life it's just a personality type ... rarest in ladies, met a few camp straight guys but mostly in gay guys.

Whilst we can all camp it up ... mainly it's just a natural part of that person!

This is an interesting question, I don't think there is one type. Some men are camp and it's incredibly annoying and just makes you want to slap them (see: Alan Carr) but others it's actually a really charming and appealing part of their personality (see: Julian Clarey, Milo Yiannopolis)

I think some people confuse effeminacy with camp

Whilst they are linked, one is not the sum of the other

Campery can be in the person, the clothes, the gestures, the attitude, the act, the music

It is generally aimed at men, but women can be wildly camp too

Just look at, for example, Pam Ann

Her shows are the personification of crass camp

Me, apparently (according to My Girl). I may be a bit flamboyant in my gesturings and language. I'm freindly and warm to people. I can be very expressive and dramatic. I love my mum, she's awesome. I dont get it my self and I have no fashion sense. If people think I'm camp, fair enough, it's just a label and wouldn't change me for the world. I love who I am. Personally I think it's just another one of my many dimentions.
