I don't think there is a "true" definition, you will make of it what you will, it's like the t-girl world where there are hundreds of differing views as to what a "t-girl" is. A member of a couple, especially a married couple, who exchanges sexual partners.

A person who swaps sexual partners in a group.

That pretty much sums it up I think.

It's been debated many times that the true definition of swinging is the swapping between two hetro couples for sex.

Although over time this seems to have changed to involve single guys or girls.

Obvioulsly people have their own ideas and it's interesting to hear ..

There is no twue definition, however one i have posted before and seems to strike a cord is....

Swinging has many different definitions. I would say it is a belief that sex is not monogamous,and that we can have many different levels of relationships from fucking namelessly in a club to “fuck buddies” to lover to husband/wife. Whatever the relationship though there is a lack of possessiveness,and openness about sex for physical pleasure.”

I think its whatever you want it to be

I dont class myself as a swingers, i mainly meet single guys off here, tho i will play with couples at clubs and parties and will meet them privately so long as i have met them before, i do gang bangs, bi male 3 sums, go to clubs etc but i still do not see myself as a swinger

But saying that lots of singles who do the same as me do see themselfves as swingers

i suppose at the end of the day it depends on if you want to be one or not, some people want to be classed as a swingers because its an exciting labed to have placed on you, for me im just a single woman after sex, i use such sites to keep my sex life veried, i dont see that as being a swingers

Common train of thought that singles are not swingers

As I said earlier it's whatever the person swinging thinks it is

When I started on the scene 30 years ago it was just swoping over from the term wife swapping to swinging

The reason for the change as far as I remember was simply to cover all the diversity

IE singles couples bisexuals and all the combinations thereof

Wife swapping was a limited term

Swinging is an umbrella term

Three long term swinging relationships later and periods between them as a single

I for one have always classed myself as a swinger and have respected the fact that it's open to all and not some eclusive club just for couples

But that's my opinion

Agree with this one, that generally it would have been couples swapping partners (hetro or otherwise), but now it seems to encompass single aswell. Back in the day though single people that swing would have just been seen as people that "put it about a bit"..

I guess you could still say that alot of singles " still put it about a bit " how many do you think are really single and not with partners that don't know they're putting it about a bit ?

depends what your looking for, me personally i dont want to go and pick up some d*unk in a pub, nor do i want to have sex with a man and then have him thinking it may turn into a relationship

Swingers sites to me are for finding like minded people, all because im a woman looking to met men does not mean i dont have as much rights to find decent men on here, to be able to discuss what my likes and dis likes are and meet up for a good night of sex without him thinking im offering more, that option should be open to anyone, all because i could go and pull a guy in a pub then have a fumble in his car dont mean i want to

nobody has to use swinging clubs and sites surely we use them because its the best way of finding like minded people, for everyone

Must admit when we started swinging (quite a while ago now) we were surprised that so many swingers were singles of both sexes as we thought it was just a wife swapping thing. We now see quite clearly that the swinging world is VERY diverse and a better place for it. Still not sure if wife swapping differs from swinging or is just a variation of it but we are happy to be swingers xxxx

i used to meet couples too, but after many bad meets with neurotic and jealous couples who couldnt cope with a 3rd party in theor sex life after all i decided it was easier and safer to just meet single guys

It just seems odd that there are so many forum posts from couples asking where the elusive single bi female is, when there are loads!

I went to Chameleons last year and, unfortunately, it was mostly couples. I had very little play because they just stayed with other couples. If it wasn't for the single guys, I wouldn't have had a shag all night!

I might not be anyones idea of a swinger but, until I am banned from swinger sites, I'm here to stay.

Thats exactly what I think. The OP is right to say that the woman in the couple gets the final say as to who they play with, and rightly so. But the vibe I get is that they prefer not to have a single woman there at all.

The vibe I get from the husbands is completely different!

I disagree that women are the bosses when choosing who to play with.

Can only speak for ourselves but BOTH of us have to be in total agreement whether we are meeting singles, couples or groups.

Mr B has just as much say as I do about who we meet.
