We are regulars at Chameleons in Darlaston, but thinking of trying Rios on Monday. Any thoughts?

Stay away , it was the very first club I went to and nearly put me right off. But that's just me.

Don't go to Rios. It's a meat market. AS a female there you move and 6/7 guys are following you. I went once with a guy. WE went to try and find a private lockable room. Ha, all the rooms had a single guy camped in there who refused to budge unless he could play with you. Treat yourself don't go to Rios.

I didn't think it was quite that bad, but it's as much a naturist spa as a swingers club. Definitely a sausage fest, but most clubs are, frankly.

Have to disagree with you , I have been to 7 other clubs since by first club experience at Rios and have never felt like it was a sausage fest. Most of the guys at Rios don't understand the word no and one of the things that put me off more than the men was the couple of woman that were colouring their hair there. I found it all very sleazy but glad I went on to find other far better clubs. Again just my , the females point of view.

Thanks for the comments. Am sure it's not a Chams, but will give it a go so we can say we've done it and make up our own mind. Will post a review. Bound to be some nice restaurants nearby if it's crap!

To be honest, I didn't think much of the place either. The ladies there on my two visits were a bit scary and not in good ways

Nonetheless, it's a popular spot, but personally, I wouldn't be in any rush to return.

As promised, extract of our review on Rios following our first visit today:

There are pros and cons to this place. Cons are we felt the ladies behind the bar lacked friendliness, the upstairs area was closed, (not busy enough), and it seemed to us that the proprietors can't quite make up their minds whether this is a place for swingers or naturists, (Lucy was ticked off for playing with someone in the large jacuzzi despite the fact that the only other person in their was a working girl - she wanted £50 to play with her!). Having said that, it was a pleasant place, nice and clean, with 3 great jacuzzis, and plenty of saunas and steam rooms. The play rooms were adequate and we played with a lot of nice people and didn't have any problems with the men. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, but definitely think Chams is far superior.

You've summed the place up perfect. If it could decide what it wanted to be it could be really good. Saturday nights are pretty good with a good mix odf couples. Friday is unbearable. I suspect midweek falls between the 2.

Personal opinion: if you're stuck in London with most venues shut, or want a place with good clean facilities and open till the London Underground start up next moring, at an affordable entry price then Rios serves that purpose well.

However, if you're lookign for a swingers club - odds are you're in the wrong place.

That's interesting. Makes for a handy crash pad then.

"Glad you enjoyed x"

Surprised they enjoyed it.

Agree with Ahabs comment above.

My criticism of places like Rios is the absence of control over who attends exacerbated by a lack of control over behaviour. There is no system to id anyone.

I tend to go to members clubs where we have all provided some form of id to the owners.

We can't all agree on places , I didn't not like it there and didn't enjoy it and said as much but I am pleased the OP went and made up their own minds.

Happy to accept the above point. When we were there on Monday afternoon, it wa relatively quiet, but enough people around for some fun. Imagine it could get boisterous after midnight on a Sat and would prob not go then. As stated, overall, we much prefer Chams which ticks just about all the boxes.

Pleased you enjoyed it. A with another previous comment I too encountered women dying their hair there and one even having her hair straightened...the smell was overpowering. I went on a Friday then on a Saturday. Upstairs (which is awful if you suffer from claustrophobia)is only open on Saturday nights. You were very lucky it was probably that it was quiet and the working girl took the edge off it.

Cap d agde,France

We used to go regular on sat nights years ago, always used to be full of nice couples and very active. When we visited again only a couple of years ago on a sat night the seemed to be many women in costumes which we found bizarre seeing its a naturist spa and the rooms upstairs were being used by black guys smoking joints more than any swinging... Very disappointing..

After midnight the place seems to fill up with single Turkish men..

We've been there at various different points over the last 8 years as its literally just down the road from us.

While there is nothing wrong with the actual venue and its much improved since the addition of a few things the big issue with the venue is the way it is run and the poor behaviour on the part of many of the patrons who visit. We have been viritually man handled to the point where we had to leave on one ocasion, on another I had a hooker try and recruit my then girlfriend to work there. We got followed from pip to pip by gangs of single men all over the place and the couples night has a alot of ticketing going on.

All that said, if you're confident and use to the scene, you can handle it here, and there are some nice people who go, especially on Saturday night, but if not being followed around by numerous men of Eastern European origin is not you're thing then, its certainly not for you, and some single men practially live there. We have been about 7 times since I was on the scene, and out of those 7 times, we have seen two guys there 6 out of those 7 visits.

The conversational abilities of some of these men is best demonstrated by the following. My Mrs - 'Thats an interesting accent, where are you from?' Single man - 'What difference does it make where I am from, I am here to fuck....' Us - 'Bye'

Restaurants near by, the nicest is Panne Vino, an Italian, which is to the right of it on the same side.

You have loads more in nearby Camden, and there is a Nando's very close to the venue if that's your bag.

I used to go and was a regular for some years, i have seen it change a lot over the past few years... it went from a naturist club to an unofficial swinging club and now struggles some where in the middle to fit in to either. If your in the mood and you cant find any were else and u go prepared for a no frills time then it will scratch ur itch... but there are other places out there that will stimulate both your mind and not just ur body...

We went there about 3 years ago and found it utterly disgusting, felt like the pied piper as we was followed everywhere. We saw one woman play with one man then BANG, it was like a free-for-all at which point she left. When we went there were people watching football as they were lying on cheap and nasty plastic furniture, we went upstairs which was not any better. But apart fromt hat it was fine ! lol

It had a revamp about two years ago, but it still suffers from all the problems you mention above and doubt it will ever change.
