The Puzzle of Monogamous Marriage

A very interesting paper has been published by the Royal Society regarding how monogamous marriages have become the norm despite historical evidence that 85% of human society eschewed monogamy.

If you google the title you'll find the paper. I (James) thought I would mention it here as you could theoretically argue that 'swinging' is more akin to how humans traditionally behaved with regard to relationships in society. (though it does rather focus on the male aspects rather than female perspective which is a wee shame)

Thought some may find it interesting.

sounds interesting... they're debating relationships on the radio at the moment while I extract my oven's dead heating element...

yes it's not too bad. The fan oven element went on my range - so dinner came from the microwave tonight

...

However, given that something like 1/3 of marriages end in divorce, citing the involvement of another person... there's not a whole load of marriages that are truly monogamous are there?
