I've been scared stiff by someone I know saying they've got or caught gonorrhoea after getting just a blowjob

Anyone here heard similar or had similar?!

You should consider oral sex as unprotected sex if there is no barrier used - a range of STIs can be passed on this way.

I get tested regularly (always been clear), even if I've only enjoyed oral sex (as opposed to intercourse) with men other than my husband, just to be on the safe side.

Yeah that's essentially how I've played it.

It's just thrown me for a little loop!

Condoms for anything penetrative, and had been happy with unprotected oral giving and receiving (can't be selfish now, that's against the spirit of things!) But since hearing it put like that I've noticed I'm hesitant even receiving oral, even if transmit rates are less. I suppose I need to get out of my head a little. Perhaps not worry about the dreaded day I'll need to go back and explain my self to past partners (hopefully never)

Regular testing is key!
