Is it just us or does anyone else get put off when people describe themselves as the above?

Such judgments are for the third party to make, not the first party. We all see such things differently and have our own tastes. Also, for many of us such attributes manifest in more ways than physical appearance. To self describe as such comes across as arrogant to me.

To prefix it with “we’ve often been described by other people as...” less so.

I’v met people who are just plain looking, and they are the best. Met some ‘beautiful’ people, who are so up themselves, they can barely manage a, ‘hello’.

There seems to be a bigger divide between old and young these days too.

Both, but it's off putting for us. We had a invite to play from a profile like that, apparently we were lucky to be considered is what they told us. They were confident but arrogant too in our book, an unattractive trait for us.

It's confidence and I like confidence. I think we celebrate and praise low self esteem too much. Someone describing themselves as ugly (well a woman) will get a much more positive reaction from people telling her she's beautiful and should believe in herself than the same woman following that advice and describing herself as beautiful. It's crazy

I think it’s off putting because there are couples of all shapes and sizes and I take them has they come, if you have a wife or hubby who has a problem with there self confidence then it may them think twice and does nothing for there confidence too, but some couples are so far up there own arses, it’s about meeting people for fun not how they look, I love the Nextdoor type couple that enjoy people for what they are and not what they look like.

Definitely a turn off for us, beauty is subjective, and not all about aesthetics either - a beautiful personality determines how attractive someone is as much as anything else, in my opinion.

Big difference between low self esteem and humility. Nobody likes people who, despite being remarkable only for their averageness, parade around with an "I'm too special for the likes of YOU" attitude...

When written about each other is lovely tbf but to state about self is off putting. Attraction can't be gauged soley on looks. When we started out had a meet but didn't gel so now its clubs social. It's the people as a whole size, looks irrelevant if there's chemistry xx

I'm happy for people to describe themselves however they like. I'm just disappointed when their description seems to fly in the face of reality.... But given the different tastes that people on Fab seem to have, it might be my problem that their self descriptions don't match my expectations.

It’s all subjective anyway so I’d look at the photos, rest of their profile text and make my decision based on that.

Yes I once had a meet with a woman who was supposedly, (and could well have been) an ex 'Page 3 Model.' Just in no way a person you felt there was communication or bonding with. Other people have said the same about her on that meet and other meets. Yes basically like sex with an inflatable / robot or incredibly bored prostitute.

Its fab law, you must not say positive things about yourself in order to give people a chance to shower you with compliments.

This is a serious question the answer to which interests me. Is it a British trait, this knocking down of confident people or does it happen in America too?

We don't bother describing our looks as positive or negative at all, there really is no point anyway as it's far easier to look at our pics and make your own judgement be it fair or foul obviously!

Far better to concentrate on what the pics don't always reveal, which is our characters, personalities, spirit of adventure and penchant for kink...

"Is it just us or does anyone else get put off when people describe themselves as the above?

Is it just confidence or arrogance? Or both?"

It certainly puts us off. It's even worse when they state they'll only meet "exceptional" people.

Now modesty i do find to be an attractive trait but it does seem to be somewhat lacking with a lot of fabbers.

We all have different versions of what we find attractive in other people.

Blandford ish

We would probably just skip past the profile, I think we all have our red flags as such and to us that is one, along with things like “elite” and the demanding/ abrupt profile text.

See I see the opposite and it's like alot of people feel they have to put the downers on themselves or they get accused of being up their own arses. We are realistic. We know we aren't munters, but certainly not models, but we do ok and get lots of offers to play when we go to clubs. No self esteem issues and know our own worth, without having to put others down. Works for us.

Not many people are going to say they are unattractive if they are trying to seem appealing.

Now the word " attractive" has become a racist word lol

Half of the profiles here say " Mutual attraction is a must"

Many veris describe each others as " stunning, gorgeous ,attractive cpl"

And still people have problems with this word.

Funny hypocrites

No it is not hypocritical at all. You and the last 3 posters seem to have missed the point the OP is making.

You say: "Many veris describe each others as " stunning, gorgeous ,attractive cpl"

Well the point here is: When people verify & describe those that they have met as being attractive; it is completely different from when people describe 'themselves' as been attractive, hence praising 'themselves'

Bottom Line is : "Self-praise is no recommendation"

So what should they write ?

People write about their own boobs, cock, stamina, length, booty size and how good are they are licking pussy, sucking cock blah blah blah.

Isn't that self praise ?

According to your logic, all profiles should be plain, without any self description .

The veris will definitely expose if their self praise is true or false anyway .

This reminds me of another similar thread where people were moaning about incomplete half attempt profiles.

Lol!

Some have problems with " Fill in later" profiles ,while some have problems about self praise. Lol

You can't win, can you?

Nobody is forcing anyone to meet people. Just use your wise decision , chat, meet socially and decide.

Why pick on people using description?

We absolutely despise 420 profiles, but we don't create a thread about it and mock them.

We just avoid meeting such ppl, simple.

By your logic nobody should create a thread about what they think or feel about a subject matter on Fabs.

Might as well close the forums then based on your "logic"

It's arrogance IMHO. Anyone who's so up their own arse as to make those claims and big them up aren't really that attractive - outwardly or inwardly.

Everyone will have a different opinion. So their view of themselves is still valid.

To be honest op I'd probably take alooksy then think twice about messaging such a profile as I probably wouldn't measure up to what they're after as so called beautiful people want to meet other beautiful people as a rule

That's fair point.

But we all read profile, read veris, check the pics and then decide to contact them or not .

If we fit the bill then we approach ,if not then we don't .
