Can anyone tell me based on my profile pic what women's dress size I'm likely to be? I need to know for when i start my transformation. Seen a lovely white halter neck dress in my local charity shop but I don't know if a size 10 would fit me...

It's hard to say, you'd be best off getting the tape measure out. I doubt a 10 would fit you though, probably a 14 would be more like it going off the little I have to work on!

Measure yourself and look at an online size guide. It will give you an idea, but bear in mind every store is slightly different.

Impossible to tell from your photos.

Do a Google search for "UK dress size measurements". There are plenty of websites that explain how to measure yourself using a flexible tape measure and they give you the approximate measurements of ladies clothes sizes

If you're lucky a size 12-14, don't worry about dress sizes think about shoes, some size 9s fit me some don't.

Primark are really good for trying on clothes, especially larger stores they've seen it all and don't care

A size 10 is really rather small. I can see you're fit and toned but that's not the same as slim/skinny. You're also naturally going to be broader than the average woman.

Yes i have quite broad shoulders but narrow hips. The dress is a white halter neck so i might get away with a 10 if its stretchy. Got into a size 10 black polka dot boob tube dress once but i literally couldn't breathe. Lol. That one was fitted tho with hooks at the back.

From what I can see your shoulders are too broad for a 10. However with a halter neck that wouldn't be as important.

Size 10 is tiny! From your pics, I would say a 12 - 14. Difficult to say though. Why not visit a charity shop and get a 10, 12 and 14. You could either try them on or just buy them and try them at home. Remember, womens clothes vary from shop to shop and the quality isn't the same as men's. Good luck! It's an exciting journey for you

I'm a size 10 and im v v slim. A 10 may be a tight squeeze for you. I'm thinking more a 12 or 14

It's the chest and shoulders that are usually the problem. I have a 28" waist but I take a size 14 dress. I can get away with a 12 depending on the make, but no way a size 10!

As mentioned above, anything I buy online that doesn't fit goes to charity.

Tape measure and checking online for different shop sizes is the way to go.

I always try everything on. I don't bother with labels, I just look at the clothes to figure out which might fit, then take a couple of similar sizes into the changing room.

Different clothes have different fits too- it will depend on your body shape and not just size. Good luck.

You need to measure yourself.

Photos can be entirely deceptive - measure yourself and either look online or post them here and I’m sure some kind soul will give you some advice!

If you don’t have a fabric tape measure - a piece of string and a builders tape measure or even a ruler will let you figure it out

I'm a size 12 depends on the dress I buy. Found very few haven't fitted when I buy a 12. Depends if they have any stretch to them which can help. 9 out of 10 of everything I buy fits.

I'm 5ft 11, 30inch waist, 36 chest. Size 12 works for me.

Shoes is what I find a pain in the ass lol.

If you are too embarrassed to go into a female clothes shop and try a few dresses on here's a much better way. Ask the girls at work if you can skip into their work skirts at lunch. I'm sure they would let you and also perhaps try their heels on. (Shave first though, noboby wants hairy legs in heels) Hope this helps x

It's not your place to tell people where to start any changes they're making in their life.

Does someone buying a dress affect you personally? No? Then let them live their life the way they want to.

And OP, I second what a lot of other people have said - your best bet is to try it on. Women's clothing sizes are notoriously inconsistent (in some shops I have to go down a size, and in others I have to go up 2 or 3!), so don't worry about the number size, just focus on how it fits and how it feels.

Very much this... my widest point is my hips / bum. On the average Male it’s likely to be his chest / shoulders.

Clever clothing tricks will help make a male physique appear more curvaceous in a feminine way!

For men sometimes this rule works.

If you have a 30 inch waist, minus 20 off the figure and you’ll be a size 10. 32 - 12. 34 - 14. Etc
