Pubic hair fashion and fetishism

Women's beauty standards are far more subject to fashion than men's are, including our pubic hair.

The 70s bush is a thing of legend and was probably fairly standardised until the late 80s when intimate waxing became more popular.

I believe that the increased accessibility of porn and celebrity endorsement lead to the popularisation of Brazilian and Hollywood waxes in the 00s and beyond.

Since the bare look became mainstream, rather than just the reserve of porn starts and wannabes, there seems to be a resurgence of the bush. I'm wondering if pubic hair on women (beyond just a landing strip) has become such a rarity that a bush/short back and sides are now so rare that it has become rare and therefore somewhat fetishised?

It still seems that most people prefer to be waxed/play with waxed but those who enjoy a woman's pubic hair REALLY enjoy it at almost fetish level.

So guys, perhaps more so the older ones who've observed the changing 'face of female pubic hair, have your preferences changed in line with fashion or have you always been Team Bush or Team Bare?

And ladies, have you gone with r against fashion, succumbed to peer pressure, partner preference or just what you like for yourself and has that changed over the years?

I wonder how many of us, women in particular, subconsciously think pubic hair is dirty/disgusting due to all the bad press over the years and that's why they hate it. Not necessarily you.

I think as you say growing up with 70/80s porn the bush was just taken for granted

Being a fan of Candida Royale I've always preferred a nice natural bush on a girl

I suppose it hasn't ever changed

When I was a teenager/in my early twenties, I was very much a fan of the fully shaven look, and anything more than well-trimmed pubic hair instantly turned me off - in porn or on a partner. Over the last decade, I’ve noticed that now I don’t find shaven to be anywhere near as attractive, and much prefer well trimmed and kept pubic hair. However, the completely unkempt/au naturel look still does nothing for me.

One of the things I always enjoyed about first-time sex with a new partner was discovering just how they kept things down there. I wouldn’t say it was a fetish, but definitely an area of intrigue!

I can come at this from the opposite angle which is going back to when I first discovered sex and sexuality, in the late 70s/early 80s, I had a "thing" for shaven yet it was rare to see it even in porn magazines, apart from "specialist" ones, and probably was seen maybe not as fetishisitic, but certainly niche.

In fact I didn't experience my first "shaven haven" (to borrow the title of a magazine) in the flesh until probably almost 20 years ago - since then of course it's now considered mainstream and having hair has become more the niche thing - although I do wonder how much that perception is skewed by what we see on here and elsewhere in porn, versus what actually is the case outside Fab's walls i.e. whilst bare is wider spread, if you took a cross-section of the general public, across all sexually active age groups, what would be the actual split between hairy vs shaven? I'd venture it may not be as skewed in favour of shaven as we might immediately think.

Back to my original point though, whereas I used to have a "thing" for shaven, I no longer do, and that's probably down to it's widestream appearance in the last 20 years or so. Now I don't really have a preference either way, other than what a sexual partner is comfortable with and prefers themselves, but do have a part of me that finds seeing hair appealing, probably for the same reasons I used to find no hair appealing.

Thanks, very interesting and kind of fits in with my school of thought that the perceived nicheness of something is what makes it more attractive and open to being fetishised.

I would wager that across ALL female demographics, pubes would win hands down, but across the younger generation those most likely to be 'dating', minimally waxed would probably win.

Neither of us shave/wax. Ingrown hairs, spots and boils aren’t something we can be bothered with plus we prefer it.

Not saying that all that do shave or wax have this issue but some of the pics on here do have quite spotty or scarred from boils bits!

Yep, I reckon so. C and I are both fans of profiles that leave more to the imagination, as we’ve mentioned on other threads. Would much rather see someone in lingerie or a pose that doesn’t show everything off!
