You get your NI number at 16 and it would be too easy to get your hands on one. I would imagine it would be credit card based system.

I did wonder if this is good news for the traditional blue DVD store?

I'm sure a lot of people don't like the idea of giving up their perceived anonymity online. People forget that online life is no different from offline life. This is just the same as if you had to hand over your personal details just to gain physical access to xxx video store.

I have talked to my freind about this a few times over the last year or so. She said that the cost on implication and upkeep threatens a few of the small struggling UK producers such as upstarts in what they self deem as feminist or ethical porn titles or niche fetish titles. Which will be sad to lose that output in the sea mainstream foreign porn.

Personally it's all a bit too big brother to me and will do little to implement it's supposed aim. What also worries me is the loseness and openness to interpretation of our extreme porn laws.

All Irish sim cards come with an adult content filter added as standard and is only switched off once you prove you are over 18 to your mobile provider.

Not sure if the new laws you are taking about will come into power in ROI

It'll need credit card or drivers licence or an elementary swimming certificate.

It's meant to stop kids viewing adult content......ahem, most kids are computer savvy and get round it better than adults. They can use an older siblings or friends id.

People will be asking kids for help accessing sites. Nice one government dickheads. They haven't got a clue.

Michael Gove thinks farmers will be more effective farming with automation and the Internet. Last time I tried to get a wifi signal in field it didn't happen.

So from wha am reading elsewhere, yes this is coming into effect very soon and will possibly be credit card based. This makes sense and secures sites to adult audiences right? VPN's are free and fool your ISP into thinking you are in another country so it bypasses the UK system, has this really been thought through. The younger generation are more tech savvy then us so will be watching more porn than us as most won;t want credit card details held online.... after all sites never get hacked and it could be a gold mine for hacker after credit card details.......

If it's anything to do with those twats in government it'll be as complicated and mind numbingly tedious as can be.
