"Anyone instantly put off by poor spelling and grammar?"

Yes. I think mental stimulation is as important as physical.

But yes, it's a particular peeve for both of us. When you have to spend ten minutes deciphering what they're trying to say, it's kind of a turn off

Not really, i make mistakes myself at times due to having a numb hand and a crap laptop keyboard. I guess if i couldn't understand what was being said at all i'd not bother trying to chat.

Not overly fussed. Education isn't everything.

Yes! I wouldn't pick someone up on it, but it is tiring!

Punctuation is your friend, people!

I run a website and Facebook page where I get lots of communication from the general public. It is so tiresome when there are hundreds of words and not one bit of punctuation.

I'm not perfect I know, but I know to add the odd comma to full stop.

Some of the 'press releases' I get aren't much better.

No, it doesn't put me of a person. I don't see any link between how good someone's spelling is and how good the sex is going to be.

I guess it is just mental stimulation. But saying that that they can hold a conversation is more important than how they write

It's not something we'd instantly cancel a meet for... unless it is horrendous that is. Text speak and people who come across as lazy aren't likely to be top of our list I guess but people can't all know all of the rules of grammar. It's nowhere near as bad as calling me "babe" or something similar though!!!

Doesn't put us off. We assume English is not their first language. If it is - then yes.

Yes - we get very annoyed at people who use of in place of have, not to mention those who use text speak!
