I was just surveying my friends list and doing a bit of downsizing...wondered for what reasons do other folk remove people from their friends list?

If I decide that actually I don't want to meet them either for a social or second meet. Those that abuse my mobile number and those that I haven't seen on line for several months.

And of course those I have to block

Only add people who we have met in person, or are going to the same private party, or trying to arrange a meeting with.

If we dont meet at the party or trying to arrange a meet has fizzled out we'll remove them.

I only add people Ive met or a meet is imminent.

If we subsequently dont meet I remove them, and I remove others I have met if we dont keep in touch and its fairly obvious we are not going to meet again.

Its not meant to be any sort of snub, I just dont see the point of having a long list of people I dont keep in touch with...

I never quite get the 'am clearing my friends in 24 hours' thing... if they haven't spoken in ages, why give them 24 hours.

just clear em.

Haha yes I agree with that,I just knock em off if they don't keep in touch,if they were interested they would be chatting to me

Because they screaming out for some of them to instigate a chat?

Gawd forbid they be the ones that start the conversation......

I do a cull every now and then, if I have no intention of meeting or they haven't made contact in say a month but been online every night then gone!

Always get questioned afterwards though! No idea why some people make it a big deal about being on someone's friends list? I find it bizarre....does anyone else?

We send the odd message out to people on our list once in a while..like christmas/new year for instance..those that dont want to reply get 'offed'..it wont bother them, and it keeps our list down to genuine people who are happy to remain friends..

I do that

But you have just made me think... why do I do it

I think it's just a habit from msn and yahoo... I would have regular clearouts on there because of all the one-offs which I didn't need to keep in touch with... but sadly I am crap at remembering people if the dialog isn't regular, so I would do a message saying it was clearout time and if they wanted to stay on the list to let me know.

It didn't mean I wanted to talk to them, I just wanted to be sure whoever stayed on my contacts was a potential future booty call.

I removed a few recently as they dont msg or reply to any of mine and therfore must have no intentions of meeting up in the future so no point being on there really is there

I no what a ladys private parts look like so am in no hurry to collect pictures off them from friends list that never keep in contact, no correspondence then no need to be on my friends list im afraid

Thanks for the thoughts...the reasons for people being removed are similar to mine really. The primary explanation for me is when people add you as a friend and then fail to respond to a message. They are immediately deleted.Next are the ones who initially express an interest and then go silent.Neither seem 'friendly' to me so I remove them.

What's the point of friends?

If you want to keep up to date with their statuses etc, add them to your hotlist.

People look through friends list and think 'were not playing with them if they played with that couple...'

Similar with Verifications too.

You either meet and play or your just looking

We delete for numerous reasons, due to lack of contact, if we do not want to meet them etc It is hard to have a definitive reason as they change from profile to profile.

We do not use Fab friends as we do with other social networking sites. Often we add people as a reminder to us that we want to meet them etc.
