They've become rarer & rarer, at least in my neck of the woods.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Fifth Circle of Hell

I find the same. Nobody wants to go for a couple of pints or a coffee a couple of times before a proper meet.

Loads of excuses why they couldn't come, need to be discreet etc

I’m dead lucky 99.8% of my Fab Friebdships have started as a social. I think it’s important! Can’t just be giving address willy-nilly to all and sundry x

Organised socials tend to take place in swingers clubs a lot of the time.

No need to find a venue happy to host a bunch of folk that may well indulge in more adult conversation and who may dress a little more risque.

We helped organise one once at a non 'dress down' club. Yes - more than socialising may have occurred for some, but plenty just enjoyed a night of chat and banter.

So you may find them more common in larger cities than smaller towns.

Organising them isn't easy either. You still have to run a guest list and take responsibility for who's coming - else you run the risk of being held accountable should anything go tits up.

A good social is a great event though and worth travelling for.

I used to love a social, used to have one or two a week when I was out & about with work.

I miss them.

Are you talking about mass event type socials or just one to one type of meets.

Just meeting a fellow fabber for a coffee during the day or a drink in the evening.

Being still a bit coy we always like a social. You have to get on with one and other at the least.

I've offered endless amounts of socials to meet for a cuppa and chat in a public place for safety reasons ..but to no avail.makes me wonder how anyone gets to know someone to see if they click without a social

I tried to arrange a couple of socials the other week when I was childfree for a couple of days and failed to actually meet anybody! All the guys I liked either wanted a guarantee that there would be a shag after the drink, or at the last minute rainchecked on the pub and wanted to come to mine "with a bottle" instead

Organised group socials and clubs really it is for me!

We did one which led to an awful meet, pretty much ended the pre social meet for us, in-depth chat is enough. The organised, social, non play events around the country we're more than happy to attend.

I have never had a man say no to a social drink in a public place. I am sure many hoped something may happen after the drink, but nobody so far has ever been pushy or acted inappropriately.

Have had many vanish after agreeing to a time and date, but never a no show on the day.

Plymouth and Newcastle (sometimes)

There's an organised social in Plymouth next month. Check out the meets forum.

I like a social meet first. I enjoy the banter, and if there's a bit of chemistry then it leads to a good bit of heightened sexual tension. All good.
