Asking for a friend

If somebody happened to get a little bit "amorous" in a place where there was CCTV but no one else about, like for example, a train station when there are no trains scheduled for hours, is the cctv constantly monitored? I'm sure they must be recorded so if there's an incident the footage can be reviewed, but would somebody be watching totally all the time or are they just left r recording an only reviewed if there's an incident that needs looking into by police excetra?

It could be a naughty fantasy not really knowing if you are being watched or not...

Depends on the property and the company.

Majority of CCTV is digital and stored for up to 1 month.

As for constantly being monitored? Somewhere like a train station might be. Maybe not after hours but I wouldn't like to fully commit to saying otherwise

I would think it’s on record and the main control room might have someone keeping an eye over them but would only be watch if incident happens I would say.

We were out and about in the city centre late one night . There’s a walkthrough precinct and a bench outside some well known shops . Since it was raining pretty heavily we sat on the bench and were larking about a bit . I said to my wife we should take a few pics , and they got pretty raunchy , but since it was about 1 in the morning there was no one about so we didn’t worry too much .

Next day we got a message from a guy on here saying thanks for the show last night . He operates the cctv for the precinct ! He told us that although we shouldn’t have been doing what we did , no one else was about so we hadn’t done anything wrong , but if a colleague was manning the cctv they may see it differently .

The alternative would be a find a fab member who has their own business.

Don't forget that modern CCTV systems have very sophisticated recording. For example you can get them to highlight activity during the night or play back all the sections of movement. In this case someone doesn't need to sit watching, so the chances of it being reviewed might be a little higher but still low I think.

The place where I used to work had 20 or so cameras recording 24/7 - so even though there was no-one constantly monitoring them, the footage from any camera could be pulled up and reviewed days or even weeks later...

Some cameras are fakes.

By law, the operator must display a notice advising you are being filmed, with their contact details.

Where you see a camera with no such notice, quite often it is just there for deterrent purposes.
