Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I've always found the seat of one's car as an odd place to take a selfie for use on here, but it's quite common so I'm obviously just out of step with the zeitgeist....

Is anyone willing to indulge me with a rationale to satisfy my curiosity?

Had a look at my own on that basis, and all but one would give you absolutely nothing to identify my home (one is admittedly in a hotel), and the one that would help is pretty generic.
