So I'm type 1 diabetic and I have an insulin pump and a libre sensor. They're not the most attractive things in the world and| I doubt most would know what they are. For meets I've had my pump off and went back to multiple injections which is more discreet I suppose but a pain in the bum (literally) but kept my libre on just because it hasn't timed in to have it off and don't want to waste it.

Anyone else in this situation? What do you do?

If not, would you find it weird if someone had these things? Or had to quickly remove an insulin pump so it didn't get in the way?

I've been more than a little self conscious about it recently

One of my more recent meets was type 1 diabetic

He didn't have a pump but wouldn't have bothered me if he did

My ex had a pump and it wasn’t in the least bit weird. She started using it while we were together and I think it took her a little longer to be comfortable with it (as in not being self conscious) than it did me

Easier said than done but I think if you project confidence and are just very matter of fac5 wit( it, other people will be fine

Only thing that would concern me would be if I were to cause harm or damage it in some way.

"More out of interest than anything... where does the libre and insulin pump go ?"

Libre sensor is a little white kind of button I suppose on the back of my arm. Pump connects through a little, flat cannula which can be moved - stomach, thighs, arms, bum usually - and the pump itself is in my bra day to day.

It's not something that's ever bothered me before but I was diagnosed a few months after meeting W as a teenager so it's only really been an issue since we started this. Just realised how much it was bothering me when I deleted a whole load of pics because either cannula or sensor was on show

I am type one, OP, would love a pump, but so used to the injections now,,it's not something that bothers me, not one person that I have met (not a lot by the way) have been concerned.

Same, I'd be wary of hurting you or it but it wouldn't put me off.

Wouldn't bother us the slightest. Would prefer to know about it in advance though just so not to cause any damage or harm or what to be careful with.

I'd say having it visible in pics would make it easier to mention it in the getting to know you stage, then by the time you meet it's just a part of you and you can be relaxed about it, and just enjoy.

I am a type 1 using a liber freestyle, I find it a great conversational starter and educate people by showing them. Your health is more than important than fucking a person who doesn’t like you for you. The pump can sometimes get in the way, I disconnect the reconnect when I have finished.

Good to know no one is bothered so far! I'm thinking I get a lacy thigh belt for my pump and just keep it on... Or can disconnect and sit it somewhere safe like I would at home if it were in the way

Wouldn’t bother us either. We play with a lovely couple one who has a colostomy bag. Not at all bothered. We have talked about it and now it’s just normal
