Birmingham Airport

We have all seen more than a few profiles bemoaning the one liner syndrome on the site.

Ladies and gentlemen, can you help us all understand some of the reasons people do this and why people like or don't like this?

Hands up if you've done this.

Hands up if you don't like it.

Hands up if you do.

Hands up if you don't mind.

Do you mean one liners in profiles, first messages, reply messages, forum posts or something else?

I don't do it, when I see people state that, I tend to move on.

I`m not sure what people expect to be honest, for you to spend 10 minutes to write them a full explanation of why you've messaged them & who you are, only to watch them read & immediately delete it? Happens 9 times out of 10 to me, & I`d image it happens to the vast majority of people on here, which is why I rarely bother these days..

Ah ok...well that's up to the sender....sometimes a one liner can be amusing and sometimes an overly long message can be a little tedious....either way we read and respond.

I don’t mind one liners or even just a hello.

As long as the person has read my profile (when my profile states that I’m looking, and email filters are off etc) and attached the requested face pic.

Otherwise it gets deleted, wether it’s one word or 200

A one liner is the message of choice for lazy people. If someone has little effort in sending messages it follows suit they are lazy in other areas so its a great way of identifying another person to bin.

I don’t mind them. I can’t see the point in demanding a long first message from someone when all I need is a face pic and a quick glance down their profile to know if I want to chat or not. I wouldn’t like someone I’m not interested in to waste time constructing a long message for me to delete

Have you yourself sent one liners; on here or in real life?

the right frame of mind -London

… And you know just what to do

Wave your hands in the air like you don't care

Glide by the people as they start to look and stare
