aint txt spk anoying?

Can not for the life of me work our why people cant write their profiles in English, especially when their in their 40's/50's and why they use txt spk,

I will admit that Im not an English graduate and sometimes may get grammar wrong, but, i do have the basic command of the language.

Some profiles are vertually illegible...I suppose if your in the fuck'n'go brigade then thats fine, but when looking for more interesting people then they just are not selling themselves.

Does make it hard work to read a message, especially when they use bss for example, which apparently means bussy on the other hand if they only have the use of a mobile to access the internet, I can understand, still not good though

and i think everyone on here worries too much about peoples grammar or how they talk ! you guys must have a lot of time on your hands to notice all this ...

no time to waste at all and thats the point, when you look at a profile thats nearly all text speak or just badly written and you have to decipher it.

yep true click off and move on, but when someone messages us we do look at profile, try to understand it and message back unlike most on here.

Thing that i never get about some of this text talk is most of the words dont even save you that much typing, words like......lyk and skool etc is it really work re writing the enhlish language for the sake of one letter lol

Some people respond well to it, some of the younger persons on the site for example. But I do agree that it's considered "txt speak" for a reason and don't believe it should be used outside texting.

Profile's are there to give you an impression of the person, so better to put your all into it show your better side as it were

The problem is people who use txt spk probably cant spell in the first place..lesser of two evils, text speak or a message full of spelling errors..

Both look really shabby..

(unless of course the person is dyslexic..then I applaud them for at least trying)

i access the site mostly via mobile, so yeah i will use a few txt short cuts when messaging

Not necessarily, I've been chatting to a guy and I struggle to understand what he says, his profile is worse. I do however accept that some people have spelling and grammar difficulties, or they use a mobile phone to access the internet but its just incredibly difficult to decipher that I often give up chatting to them

Us oldies have enough trouble typing let alone using a mobile - that's why I use a smart phone and whole words or a PC with a spell checker - that cures a lot of dyslexia.

Anyway it is polite to use English as it is wrote (as Ernie said)

Indeedie...text speak...(or is it txt spk?)its like having a conversation with a 12 year old kid..unfortunately it also give the impression the writer also has the intelligence of a 12 year old kid as well..

I agree with your second comment! Not enough people seem to spell correctly or use punctuation, full stop! It makes it so difficult to read what people are saying. I'm dyslexic and I hate coming out with mistakes.

We couldn't agree more! And if the person WRITES IN CAPITALS or even worse WRTS TXT SPK IN CPTLS we feel the urge to throw something sharp and heavy in their direction! Any messages like that mean "you're blocked!"

i dont think its an age thing,, i think its a certain type of person that does it!

I often shorten you to u or say lol, but i absolutely abore it when people write what is supposed to be a nice introductory message to someone in ful txt spk lk dis it jus rly wnds me up... if you cant be bothered to type out a few extra letters what are you gonna be like when it comes to putting in actual physical effort to get me off...

We check each message for any spelling mistakes and the use of correct grammar! Any violations of the English language will result in six of the best administered with a riding crop and a spell on the naughty step! You have been warned!

I hate text speak, but I do not get put off by it. I've always typed with full words and punctuation even while texting.
