For me,

love = you miss that person when he/she's not there (by miss, I mean you miss the company, the sex, that person's smile, that person's quirks). Not easy to replace.

lust = you miss the sex. Can be replaced by an equally (or more) hot person.

Mind you, sometimes it's a bit grey. You can definitely lust for someone you also love. While the reverse is not usually true, I have deep feelings for many of my lovers.
