And no, before the inevitable posts start, they don't frot themselves on the pommel and no jods aren't that sexy, not when they are covered in hay and horse slobber!

We had a livery yard and riding school but was a showjumper, team chase, eventer.

Non of that dressage tat.

That's like saying that an AI is a good instructor.

The only way to learn is on horseback, not from a test or from reading books.

Each to their own but dressage was a no thank you from us.

But seriously, surely you see the point of soem dressage? Even a lot of NH yards are doing basic flatwork with their horses now.

We aren't in the game anymore.

Moved into Mr M's field of expertise mow as it's far more lucrative.

Haven't ridden since the day we packed up 16 years ago.

I used to say that, but it is actually very interesting. I'd rather have teeth pulled than actually ride a test but it's a great way of educating a hoss - provided it does the fun stuff too!

Dressage is quite interesting to watch to be fair. It’s just not something that I’ve ever wanted to get into myself.

I miss my horsey days. Only the motorbike to keep me sane these days!

I loved hacking. Hated showjumping. Loved stable management. Never hunted. If I wanted a fox dead, I would shoot the buggler.

Miss the companionship of the horses. And the donkeys. I loved them too!

It's a bit more social than dressage, seems a waste spending hours getting ready to turn up at an allotted time, spent 4 1/2 minutes in the ring and go home again, I have done dressage but it's more fun at home than competing

I like dressage done properly (classical), I’m no expert at it but have been known to compete locally just to do something different. Dressage is a great grounding for so many things and I find it helps deepen the understanding between horse & rider.

I prefer local showjumping, although I’ve been too busy with work this year to compete really. I have 5 ex racers, a warmblood and my sons’ caspian arabian mare, possibly adding a couple of dartmoors in a couple of weeks. I run a small livery yard mostly filled with my own horses, ducks chickens etc - it’s my slice of headspace

I took my new ex racer at the time to the Boxing Day meet, I was rather merry and he was fresh and snorting like a demon.. it was interesting
