Prostitute.

Only joking. It means they have a job. Sadly, It doesn’t mean they’re professional at sex.

It's quite straightforward, it means they consider themselves to have a profession.

For some reason this makes some people really cross, I've no idea why.

For us, people who quote they are 'professional' come across as pretentious. It's a good indicator of their characters and we would probably not be compatible!

You may not but I live in London and most people I meet are professional people. It does show me that I will get a half decent conversation and these types don’t usually send creepy messages.

I get confused as to why people get cross also. It’s a term widely used and I don’t see it as someone being up themselves. Most of my friends are in a profession that warrants that title.

Educated doesn't automatically make someone a professional in either the working environment or act like a professional in the social environment.

The word professional is coming to its end and will end up in the bin with lords and serfs.

Professional to us means own house, car, teeth and job...So basically working middle class. It's just people advertising their social status, or at least how they view themselves. We always take 'professional' with a pinch of salt. It means very different things to many different people.

I see profiles that state they are sexy, gym fit seeking the same and don't feel the need to get arsey, exhibit reverse snobbery to call them out because my fat arse doesn't meet their requirements.

People: get over yourselves. The profiles don't state "no DSS, shelf stackers or college dropouts". By the inferiority complex shown by some, they're simply describing themselves to allow others to exclude themselves.

How we choose "like minded" playmates is personal. It doesn't mean, if you're excluded that you're shit, just not compatible.

Grow up!

We associate professional people as having a high level of education, a good well paid job (doctor, lawyer, teacher, etc) , probably living in a nice part of town who are very discreet about this part of their life due to judgement from employer and friends. Also tend to look after themselves in terms of exercise and diet. Generally don’t smoke.

That’s the connotations of professional for us. Not all professionals are like this but we’ve met a few who have been amongst our best meets.

Don’t know why people get so upset about the term. If you don’t like professional people or people who label themselves with this then there’s plenty of other people to meet on the site.

"Most professionals worked hard to get their degrees.... just saying...

Some ‘professionals’ don’t have a degree but they have worked hard to succeed in their chosen career. Many with degrees end up in menial roles. Being ‘educated’ doesn’t necessarily make for a successful or interesting person.

And personally, I feel people who declare their professional/wealthy/intellectual status lack sophistication and are often stretching the truth.

It does seem to get people's noses out of joint at times but actually this is usually a pretty good indication of whether you would get on at a meet.

The fact is that there are compatibility complications in this game, we don't need a playmate to be a genius physicist, and we don't judge anyone for being a homemaker or anything like that. In fact we have played with both, but generally speaking we would prefer people to know what they are getting into by meeting us. We conduct ourselves a certain way and with a wide degree of wiggle room for sure we expect the same in return.

There is also the fact that swinging is a unique subject matter. There are a great many men that I could have a great laugh with down the pub but I wouldn't be happy with them fucking my partner. It needs to be someone you respect, or by viewing that you disrespect your partner by association. Them being a person who has a purpose and can conduct themselves in a civilised fashion is a large part of that

Always remember the true mark of a professional is that they know the limits of their profession.

A Dentist will not claim to be a tree surgeon.

A French Teacher will not claim to be a Maths Teacher.

A Professional Footballer will not claim to be a Professional Landscape Gardener.

A Professional Mechanic will not claim to be a Professional Actress or Actor.

So, someone on this sex site, who claims to be a "professional" with no clarification as to the limits of their profession... well that kinda speaks for itself. Unless they are secretly a professional snake-oil salesperson.....

That’s why I said that I would count. All you have to do is hide. Can Ralph Wiggum manage that?

Maybe I could if I was yellow and look like I'm suffering from Jaundice...

You look a bit yellow in your pic. Come on now, go hide. It’s going to take me ages to count in French.

I'm yellow? That's very hurtful

Come on, I’ve started counting lovely

Just like most of the monotonous tripe that's been posted time and time again boring everyone to death.

It means they are happy in the company of people who go to the same golf club as them.

Not at all. We use the term professional to denote what we are, not who we're looking for.

As for its meaning - from our perspective, it means that we're working in fields that require us to belong to a register of professionals - (for example, doctor, lawyer, teacher etc.). Some people seem to consider the use of the word somehow arrogant or condescending - but we see it as being a literal description of a part of who we are.

We appreciate that some people don't like the term. Okay - so what? We don't like the terms 'heavy cummer' or 'rant over', but we certainly don't judge an entire profile by those things alone. Doing so would be myopic in the extreme.

TL,DR? We're professionals, we're unapologetic. It's not a big deal. Find a way to be okay with it, or don't.

Untrue. I was summarising the post, hence "tl,dr".

However, if you consider that to be arrogance - okay, I'm not going to argue the point. Your view is your own. You're welcome to it.

Spot on! We see too many complaints about other people's profiles - too many cock pics, not enough pictures of him, people who are pedantic about spelling....and, of course, being "professionals". Profiles are how you advertise yourselves to attract the people YOU want to meet, and if your advert works for you that's fine. If it doesn't work for someone reading it then they should simply move on to another profile that does appeal to them.

No different to "gym fit and sexy" in my opinion. Not all "gym fit and sexy" people are going to attracted to each other are they, but it excludes the oompah loompahs from contacting them.

Likewise, if you feel "out of someone's league" for whatever reason, why not accept you're not compatible rather than make snide remarks?

I think some people believe it is an attribute and makes them more desirable. Some will like it and some won't. I have met people who described themselves as 'professional' and they have been humble so it's not like they are all arrogant and feel superior.

Oh okay. I get you. I'm just here for a good time. I could put professional on mine but i don't. Does that say more about me as a person or those who feel the need to add it in their profile . That's all I mean. Does it make some stuck up,or posh you think? I think some people believe it is an attribute and makes them more desirable. Some will like it and some won't. I have met people who described themselves as 'professional' and they have been humble so it's not like they are all arrogant and feel superior.

I'm genuinely curious how you correlate "professional" to arrogance and superiority."

Agreed and also how does ‘professional’ mean posh and snobby? My half sister is a ‘city professional’ she works in investments but she grew up in a council flat. She has just worked hard to get to where she is and is not a snob in any way.

"Ok i have seen this on a few profiles but what does it mean on a profile when they are professional for an example they are a professional woman like what does that even mean. It means they are educated and don't associate with riff raff that could be on Jeremy Kyle.

Why they here then. Have you seen some of the people on here. I swear some have been on Jeremy Kyle lol. Lexi They wanna attract like for like, yes I'm sure some probably have

Oh okay cool. So they wanna compare careers or have great sex? Lol. So what you're saying is that one professional will seek another, just because they're both professional in the hope that they will get along because of that fact?. Each to their own i guess . Lexi

That is very true and partly my point ive just made about professionals. Don't know. Who made snide remarks?.

I thought all just had opinions which all are entitled to,no?"

Of course we're entitled to our opinion, equally people are entitled to describe themselves as professional without being described as arrogant, pretentious etc...or did I read those comments out of context?

Yes. 100%. Cum is such a disgusting word lmfao "

Oh dear, mind you don’t loose control in the throws of passion next time you arrive and blurt that disgusting word out by mistake

"It's quite straightforward, it means they consider themselves to have a profession.

For some reason this makes some people really cross, I've no idea why.

And what difference does that make on a swingers site?. I'm not looking to settle down with anyone,so what's it's showing me. That they have a job and rhin k it needs mentioning? Lexi

It's showing you that you aren't compatible with that type of profile.

How. Please explain?. I've met professional people before. They didn't mention it on their profile. We got on very well. Better than others who weren't professional. Lexi"

Because you don't seem too keen on people who write the word on their profile.

It wasn’t aimed at you and I know you are not the one that is complaining about it. I just don’t understand why people need to moan about it, just move on to another profile if it makes them uncomfortable.

I think the big differentiator, for me and my understanding of the use of professional on profiles, is that people either have "just" a job or a profession / career.

If that makes sense.

I wouldn't describe my self as professional or stunning etc but I have no problems with those that do. I'm struggling with the inability of some to accept the right of others to describe themselves as they wish without taking personal offence if they feel it excludes them.

Professional is usually used just before they ask or give a reason for needing discretion. It isn't pretentious at all, it's protecting the things you class as important, professions such as a doctor or a teacher you can see why they need discretion.

"I see profiles that state they are sexy, gym fit seeking the same and don't feel the need to get arsey, exhibit reverse snobbery to call them out because my fat arse doesn't meet their requirements.

Grow up!"

I think the intention is to project to people that you are educated and have a socially responsible career as opposed to someone who may be highly qualified but works in a manual trade or as an artist etc... I don't look down on anyone but just as friends of mine take pride in their plumbing business (that earns far more than I do) I take pride in my work as it took me four years to qualify and I help change lives (I hope).

By saying I'm a working professional I'm letting people know I need discretion because I would compromise my ability to work if anyone knew about my profile.

I think those who are offended by this have a bit of a complex about their own pathway in life and work/financial situation and see anyone who puts "professional" as a snob who is looking down rather than someone projecting a particular image to attract what they want to attract - like minded people who they will connect with, or someone who finds "professional" people a turn on.
