A social first, check everything is to your liking, both of you.

Communication between the two of your, prior, during and after the meet. Respect each others boundaries and don't do anything either of you is unhappy about.

There and to the left a bit

The key always is to go at the pace of the slowest person - so don't do anything until you are BOTH ready to go ahead and in total agreement - it will only lead to resentment if you don't.

Sit down with your other half and talk about his apprehension and what might be causing it, and work out from there the best way forward - it could be something simple that's easily fixed or could be something that ultimately leads you to decide not to go ahead but you have to be prepared to accept that if it's the case.

If you do decide to go ahead put in place clear boundaries that you both agree to, and again be prepared to stick to the lowest boundary you're BOTH comfortable with.

Think about maybe going to a club where you agree you won't play with others but can watch and be watched - that takes the pressure off a little but gives you a chance to sample the atmosphere and get a feel for if you think it's something you might enjoy again

Don't expect too much, don't put too much pressure on yourselves, don't resort to drink and go with a smile.

When you are both very sure it's what your looking for find what you'll hope to be a good match and arrange a social somewhere like a pub.

Have a lovely relaxed social with absolutely no expectations then go home and have a good chat together to see if your both still on the same wavelength, if one of you has the slightest concern then don't take it any further..

Good luck with your venture together. X

the moon

Have ideas

Have boundaries

Have fun

Make it a social event and if in any doubt just politely walk away

Relax.

If you have made the effort to know each other online, then the first meet should feel more like a reunion and not a job interview. Pubs and cafes, give a nice secure and safe place to meet.

When you can relax, laugh and feel happy touching hands/legs/shoulders, everything should fall into place, along with your clothes, later on

When it suits you both, its time.

A defined understanding of the boundaries of the meet before hand usually with expectations on anyone to play is good for reducing pressure. male
