We are curious as to whether you can get a printed, stamped and signed copy of your test results when you go to the local Sexual Health Clinic?

I don't know about stamped or signed but I think you might be able to request a paper copy.

Thank you. It was more for asking for ‘up to date evidence’ from a trusted male as proof - and likewise for me to show him.

I guess if we both went to the same clinic and I had the same ‘print out’ then we’d both know it was a sure truth.

I get a text to say I'm all clear and I always keep them for proof but they would send a letter out if asked

How did your last test results come? Would the guy accept them in that form?

Could you and the guy attend the clinic at the same time, then you would know whatever form the results took there was a good chance they were genuine?

Basically yes. The most determined people could fake it, in theory, never heard of anyone trying. Risk reducation is about probability so you're doing the right thing.

Most clinics will text or email for free. If you want a letter you usually have to pay- around £35

Are test results worth anything..you get tested on Monday, give a guy a blow job Monday night, sleep with your partner afterwards.You get your test results back a week later or whenever, they are all clear, but the guy had something.. so infact you caught it on the night of your health check..Unless you practice full safe sex, condom for blow jobs and condom with your partner, you will never be fully protected..of course it's worth having sexual health checks..but do not rely on them, because things can change from the day you have then.

OP wants to know the person they're meeting has nothing at the time they meet. Tests can't guarantee it. That's all I'm saying.

However tests show that person is responsible and cares about their health otherwise wouldn't be bothering with tests.

it will just give an extra layer of confidence looking at the test results in any form but it may not guarantee that the other person is clean. i think you need to trust your instincts and act on top of it.

The only way to know for sure would be to obstain from any form of sexual contact since last contact for the duration of the incubation period of all sti then to be tested and still have no sexual contact till you receive results this depending on the type of test you take would then give a true indication of your status at that point as opposed to just you status when test was taken. Different tests for hiv have different ways of testing and have different windows in which they can detect infection so some will need to be retaken some months later.

Tests only show your status when the test was taken and even then will only show what is traceable not what may be traceable soon after the test.

You can get a Print of your results but you have to pay for it. They usually send a text of your results maybe you can get a print of that?

You're adults, therefore only you can make the decision whether to have unprotected sex or not. You're never completely safe no matter what. If you're unsure at all then I say don't do it. But at the end of the day, do what you want, your health, your life.

Also the home tests are free and easy to use. Do one after then again in 12 weeks.

There's a very big difference, all other things being equal, between the probability you have contracted an STD in the last 3 month's and the probability you have ever contracted one. So it's a lot better than "worthless". Furthermore, the often quoted 3 month period refers to older generations of tests. These days they are 95% accurate at 4 weeks and 99.9% at 12. People should be doing everything they can to protect themselves.

They usually tell you what they are testing for when you go... So clear of those I should imagine

But they don't list that on the text so only the testee will know what they've been tested for. All clinics don't test the same things and only rely on what you tell them about risky behaviours to make the decision what to test for

Going bareback is something you negotiate with someone you trust. To my mind it should also go hand in hand with a period of exclusivity. We all love it. But there's no point being reckless

When you go in they ask certain questions, if you think you have been a bit reckless they’ll do test for all sorts,

The nhs one I go to give me a tick sheet with what they are testing for, tally that up with the text saying all clear and your good to go.

Of course 99%of the information in the world is manipulated for someone else’s gain so only go bareback with someone you know well and trust!

We always use condoms . Now most people know this isn’t 100% protection but it’s probably 99 % so it’s worth keeping some things in perspective namely that the biggest killers are Cardiovascular disease and cancer .

You only have to look at the number of swingers who smoke ( at least 30%) swingers who are obese ( at least 50%) and swingers who drink too much alcohol (prob 70% ) to realise where our efforts should really be focused.

Personally, I think its a Minefield, it's fine to get a text, but you've no idea who that person has had sex with afterwards. People tell fibs alot too! Always be safe xx

The *only* thing test results show is that someone was clean (or not!!) 4-12 weeks prior to taking the test, and that they were responsible enough about their sexual health at that point in time to get tested - so in those terms seeing the results sometime after prove nothing about their sexual health at the point you see them.

As others have said that person could have had numerous partners since those tests and contracted any number of STIs even if they did practice safe sex so all you can do is trust your gut instinct, assess the risks and act on them accordingly, and take the best possible care of your own sexual health
