FabSwingers.com forum: Messages read but not replied

Now we know that “normal” rules don’t always apply on fab but........ when you’ve sent someone a message and you can see they’ve read it but haven’t responded what do you think?

Conclude they just weren’t interested, put it down to experience and move on? Or decide they are just too rude to bother with and block so you can’t make the mistake of interacting with them again?

Personally we hate some of the rudeness we see on here and usually do the latter

Let’s be honest if you reply negatively then it’s worse than not replying at all!

No rpely tends to mean not interetsed. However sometimes I read the messages we get. Then tell him as he is the one holding the conversation so it's him that should be replying not me pretending to be him. So often messages go read for a few hours before a reply is sent by him. And of course vice versa.

What gets me is they don't reply yet they still keep looking at the profile.. I wouldn't bother blocking anyone for not replying.... It's personal choice.. I always reply even if not interested... It's the done thing ...well I think so

Hi if I send a message and it is deleted,than I tend to assume (dangerous i know) that this person has read my mail checked my profile and decided I`am not what they are looking for.

So I add them to the block list not because I`am having a sissy fit it is because its easier to monitor and that I do not send the another message bothering them.

Nut I do agree a polite no thank would be nice

I'd take it as a "not interested".

It's not at all rude. Why bother taking time to reply to someone you're not interested in and leave yourself open to abuse?

It's a good idea to block people who are not interested in you and those you are not interested in. It will prevent you from being rejected by the same people again as you seem to have a problem with people not being interested in you.

We take it as not interested then delete the mail and block after a day or two as a sanity check to not contact that profile in future.

If it's a decent enough message we'll always reply, even if it's a no thanx, but if it's a crass and stupid one liner or an obvious marathon copy and paste job then we sometimes do just ignore. We only usually block a message sender if it contains one of the "donts" on our profile.

If you met many of these people in the flesh you would maybe tell a different tale, you're basing your block button on an inability to put words to screen oh and the fact their are 10 more to replace them

Unfortunately it’s just an inevitable fact of messaging people on a forum like this. I don’t think you can say someone not responding to a message is rudeness.

Personally I don’t think I’m owed a response to any message, and if they’ve read my message and viewed my profile and chosen not to respond then they clearly aren’t interested in me so it’s easier just to move on.

I used to read all messages and if I wasn’t interested, I just wouldn’t reply. I was lazy and never deleted my messages. But so many people assumed that was ‘leaving the door open’ and now I’ve just started deleting them.

In what other social situation would someone ignoring you, be ‘leaving the door open’ or ‘maybe they’re interested but don’t want to reply’ ?

If someone is interested OP they will reply to you. It’s as simple as that really. If someone messages me and I don’t have time to reply but I want too, I mark the message as unread again until I have time to reply.

Sometimes we have a quick read of a message but are too busy at the time to reply. Then real life gets doing it's thing and a few days go by.

That's not rude, it's just life, it's no big deal.

We read messages and sometimes reply later when we get time, but in all honesty don't reply to any that have not read our profile regarding messaging.

In vanilla life we don't reply to junk mail, unsolicited offers from companies etc. Whether by post or email and don't really see any difference on her ... but each to their own

We get too many messages to read them all x

We would be sat there for hours if we replied to everyone. So we have a code in our profile to out the ones who don’t bother reading our profile so we don’t bother reading there messages they are either ignored or deleted no offense to the sender. We tend to reply only to the people who have read our profile x

Often one or the other night read the message but tend not to reply until we both read it that could be a week before we do

Life's too short to get hung up on replying as soon as if it's a problem then tuff

Spot on if people got a stream of I really don't find you attractive at all messages I am sure they would be wishing for no reply at all.

Some get so many messages they can't reply to all thats life.

If someone who meets our criteria having clearly read our profile and messages us in a thoughtful and articulate way we will reply even if we are not interested, it’s not junk mail, we advertise ourselves on here and expect messages and those that have taken time & effort deserve a reply.

Those that don’t meet our criteria, send inarticulate, thoughtless messages don’t get replies.

Its a long time since anyone has blocked me because I haven't replied!

If it's a clear no from us we'd reply within hours. If we're considering it - it could be as long as 48 hours by the time we both looked at the profile separately and together and had our discussion before replying.

Having said that messages containing 2 letters or clearly showing the sender has not read our profile will go unanswered.

So many do the next option and be a dick and reply with a rude message that reflects their delicate male pride. Usually the message says something about girls being fat or something about their fanny

Finally someone gets real with an answer, it’s the same for us will reply when we can and read messages when we can. Patience
