Stockings to work

I often wear stockings or hold ups at work, I have done for years. I find them more comfortable, and I often meet hubby for lunch, which can quite often involve some fun, so he likes it too. I’ve never had a problem with wearing them to work, I do it discretely, normally under a pencil skirt or fitted dress. However, someone noticed the other day I was wearing them, as apparently I was sat cross legged and my stocking tops were showing slightly. I didn’t think this would be an issue, but it’s become apparent that the person who spotted it has now done their best to tell everyone in work, and to make it worse, I’m apparently wearing them to seduce my boss.

This has really annoyed and upset me, because it’s nothing to do with anyone else what underwear I’m wearing, it shouldn’t be a big deal - they’re just stockings, and most of all because I have absolutely no interest in my boss and to start a rumour like that is just wrong.

I know who it is that’s spread the rumour, because friends at work have told me, so I’m going to confront the person and deal with it, but I really shouldn’t have been put in this situation.

If anyone on here noticed someone at work I stockings would you think it’s a big deal? I’m fairly sure it’s more common than many small minded people think.

It isn’t a big deal to wear stockings for work at all. They’re just being a busy body. I personally find it sexy and I would try to get a peak whenever I could lol

I would speak to your boss on this, and ask them to have a word with the rumour-monger. What you choose to wear to work has nothing to do with anyone else.

Anyway, exposed stocking tops are a common sight everywhere, mainly accidentally.

As others have said...

This behaviour is unacceptable. Speak to your boss or complain as per company policy.

Stockings are perfectly acceptable work wear. I wear them for work sometimes.

Don’t want to cause an issue by complaining upwards. I’m senior to the person who’s started the rumour, so I’ll deal with them. It’s more annoying that they are so small minded!

As someone posted above, clearly too much time on their hands! It has made me a little self conscious of what I wear to work though

In that case...discipline them and still speak to your boss to avoid misunderstandings on their behalf.

Some people are simply petty and small minded.

I'd be inclined to say to the boss to deal with it, who knows what bs this worm will revert to, best have a clear daylight between you and your complaint rather than muddy the waters and be accused of something else too.

They're clearly not nature enough to handle themselves appropriately when they did have the opportunity to do so, if they feel cornered by you, who knows what they will be like.

Call it self protection.

I don't know if its a man or a woman who's jumped to these ridiculous conclusions. I do know that some people will sexualise just about any item of clothing or behaviour if its a woman wearing it or doing it. I used to wear hold ups to work or stockings now and again its much healthier than having your lower body encased in nylon tights

I wear stockings or hold ups every time I wear a skirt or a dress to work. Yes, some colleagues have noticed them, with some others I've even had a discussion about what's more comfortable and where to get good quality suspenders. Never had any problems with that. Only some appreciating looks.

it's terrible thanks idiot has made you feel self conscious but by no means should you change what you like to wear.

As someone has already said, be careful how you discipline this idiot, as that might cause you some trouble. Don't leave yourself open.

I'd speak to your boss and let them deal with it.

Its either sexual harassment or victimisation tell the boss to tell them to either wind thier necks in or you will put in a formal written complaint

They are jealous and they feel inferior to you because you’re looking fantastic and wearing more sophisticated clothes to them. You’re obviously more attractive than they are.

Sounds like Bullying to me as they are trying really hard to put you down. Because you are already way above them.

It’s no big deal at all to be wearing sexy and sophisticated underwear. I wear Stockings and Suspenders for work all the time. I’m sure a lot of people do.

You are so right it is nothing to do with anyone else and it is just your choice of underwear. Love a lady who wears something other than the conventional tights to work as am sure they feel much better. Also, as a red blooded male, getting a glimpse of a stocking top is amazing. I work with a couple of ladies who wear like you do. One wears hold ups all the time and the other wear tights but they are always one like mock stocking ones. It looks great and have often got a great view. Never said anything and even of i did it would be a positive comment for sure. You look stunning in your photos and have an amazing pair of legs in and out of nylonz.

I like wearing hold ups from time to time and yes you can give the odd accidental glimpse or flash of tops now and again.

Some men will enjoy the glimpse and put it in their ‘wank bank’ others more immature and childlike will make a meal of it.

Let the immature guys deal with themselves and you enjoy wearing what you want x

I’d certainly make the boss aware of what’s been said but then deal with the guilty party yourself. That way you’re covering you’re arse if more happens but this person also then knows not to mess with you. However I do like your arse uncovered

I used to have a manager who would regularly wear stockings and suspenders at work (I should add that the manager was female). She also use to wear rather thin dresses so that it was pretty obvious. She wasn't particularly flirty, but I often wondered why she did it, whether she liked people noticing, or if they made her feel attractive.

My Wife always wears short dresses and stockings to work.

At her last place of employment a fellow "junior" female colleague spotted them and said she did not think the dress and stockings were appropriate.

My Wife replied, "I am trying to get a pay rise from the Boss, do you think that he has noticed yet?"

My wife enjoys wearing short dresses and stockings, I love it even more Within reason, it is no one else's business what people wear to work.

there's reputational issues (lies) at play here with the op, so ignoring the issues isn't a option in my view, likewise that of a good few others here too.

It's because in history stockings have been considered being worn by whores or only worn for sexual reasons (obviously wrongly).

I wear stockings nearly every day and most of the time nylons which are definitely not seen regularly these days! I do get a lot of looks from women thinking I am a hussy and men who obviously think I am advertising myself for sex but I wear them for me because they are part of me, what I like and my personality! I had an issue with a suspender belt snapping the other day and ended up going to an underwear shop who were surprised when I asked if they had any belts!! Ha!!!

I would say be yourself, don't let them judge you for being you they are only jealous you look so good!

This sounds like the best plan to me, you definitely need a 3rd party involved and you can't really discipline them yourself without them having ground for appeal due to bias.

I wear hold ups to work quite often. It’s a comfort thing. It also makes me feel sexy and that’s a good feeling whatever I am doing and has no impact on my ability to do my job properly.

One of my colleagues also wears hold ups and we have often discussed where to get good quality ones.

If I were in your situation I think I would talk to my boss and I am sure he would deal with it properly.

It was nothing to do with you or anyone else, and everything to do with feeling good about herself.

Why do men think the way a woman dresses is about them, rather than her?

Stockings and hold ups in thier own right are perfectly safe, however add to the mix an immature male brain then they can be trouble.

Seen grown men openly perve at an 18 year old, as she flashed her stockings top by accident.
