OP whenever I receive a message I read the senders profile first before looking at the message. If there is nothing in the profile that piques my interest I often delete the message without reading it.

I only reply if the profile interests me and the initial message stands out. A "how are you?" or an obvious copy and paste message doesn't usually get a reply.

Even if someone has a fantastic profile and sends out a great first message I don't always reply. I don't chat to too many people at once as I find it hard to keep track. Sometimes it all comes down to timing and how many others I'm talking to.
