Is it ever acceptable to let a first offer down to take up a later, much better offer?

Simple answer is No

How would you feel if they let you down because they had a better offer

No offence but if you treat people like that you should be grateful u have any offers

Just be honest and tell the first one the truth, so they can ignore you when your better offer let's YOU down

The answer is no... just arrange the other offer for another time...

Treating people the way that we would want treated is always the way forward...

I would say No, - if you have connected with someone and they have agreed to meet, then you should do the decent thing and meet as arranged - the other one you can just share around with us drooling guys sat waiting lol

But what’s classed as a better offer then you should enlighten us all ? Just a random thought if the first offer you got uses the forum what are they going to think about this thread x oh and on the original topic it’s not really very polite to accept then decline as you feel something better is on offer x

It's not about first come first served. You should only be picking people to meet that are 100% what you are looking for. Therefore anything else that comes along is different and not better.

This is exactly why I am not interested in men who ask to meet me in the first message.

First offers not on here, wouldn’t have started this if they were. Drr this is about treating people properly. Second is a lady on here who I’ve not met before but seems lovely.

Not something I'd do, totally disrespectful, especially if you display a veri from the "better" meet which has probably been done many times on here!

Its no strings fun but that doesn't mean you can treat people like crap (although many do) I'd arrange another meet with the second person a different day, plenty of time if they're serious about meeting. I met a guy a while back, was only a social when I could have met someone else for fun but that's not my style. I'm meeting the other guy this weekend

Yeah possibly. Better looking, better body? Who knows. Just meet them both at some point, easy.

Think people are being a bit harsh on the OP. He posed the question but actually did the decent thing, staying with his first arrangement. The woman isn’t on fab and he’s said he wouldn’t have posted if she was.

As for ‘better’, don’t you sometimes think one person will be more fun than another?

Fooking insane I'd say! Its bad enough doing that but to proudly display the veri, what a kick in the nuts. Some people have no shame, and no morals.

No. If you weren’t really sure about person 1, shouldn’t have agreed a meet in the first place.

We all appreciate when someone is reliable, we should give that respect in return.

Who asked first, served first.

Arrange the meet with person 2 another time. Perhaps that person will ask/respond earlier next time. Especially if you explain you made other plans. I would respect that.

Win-win for you OP, as you have the opportunity to keep the contact of both!

I agree with this!

Although I wouldn’t be upset if someone cancelled a meet with me (with a decent amount of notice), in fact it’s better than having him turn up, but with his mind elsewhere
