Worst let down experiences

I drove to meet someone last night after exchanging messages. Got to the place and suddenly no replies to my messages. Hung around for an hour before finally admitting defeat and driving home with a bruised pride.

That was only 2 hours of my life wasted. I hear of people driving hours for meets. Some people must have had horrendous experiences!

That's crap. Fortunately its not happened to me in 7 years although I don't meet that often. When I do its usually a quick coffee/social meet somewhere I'd be anyway like costa on my break.

If I do drive somewhere, its usually only locally.

I have no idea what drives people to do such shit things to others. I'm sure they wouldn't like it done to them.

Yip had the same done to me on pof. Twice. Different guys. Got all ready (all guys have to do is shower and shave) nice outfit on, etc. Drove to address, messaged to check it was correct address and then nothing. Fortunately I didn’t go to the door.

Hence why I now never meet without a social. I’d rather spend an hour over a coffee knowing someone is genuine than be made a fool of.

It didn't bother me that much. Tbh it's partly my fault. I should have chatted more to the couple beforehand to gauge how genuine they were. Socials first are definitely a good idea but not practical last minute

we've had loads of no shows even when you've spoke and they are local.

The site is full of key board warriors.

"I drove to meet someone last night after exchanging messages"...

So, you didn't get a phone number?

Speak to them on the phone?

Facetime with them on skype?

Ask them to go on cam in a chatroom?

please tell me they were at least verified a few times?

"we've had loads of no shows even when you've spoke and they are local.

The site is full of people who have a poor record of getting stood up because they don't do the proper checks before committing #thinkingwiththewronghead.. "

Join the gang. Had a similar experience last night. She’s well verified. Was in a hotel. Asked for room number when I was 20 minutes away. Was told I’ll give you when you’re in reception. Got to reception, messaged and then she was offline for a whole hour. Only to resurface an hour later 15 miles further. I suspect it was her partner who was up to his shenanigans.

Not good a social is always a good idea or confirm 2-3 hours before and if no response then don't waste your time. Drives me mad the fantasists on here love the chase and don't have the guts to meet

Fortunately I've only been stood up on once in 5.5 years.

I've had a couple of really bad meets though. I really wish they hadn't turned up.

Happened to me as well. And she had 7 verifications. Luckily the journey was only 10 minutes each way so not too put out, just irritating.

I met a guy 2 years ago, after his status said he'd travelled miles to be stood up. We chatted and met. Just last night after chatting we arranged to meet. Last conversation was 'I'm jumping in the shower' only for him to dissappear. My first thought was 'ohh dear what if he's fell in the shower?'...quickly followed with he better fecking had off

Who knows what his reason/excuse will be, either way it was a mystery and very ironic haha

We’ve finally figured it out , after seven years of swinging , it’s finally dawned on us that the swinging scene is as shallow and meaningless as life can get . And yes , we are as guilty as anyone else of this vacuous void that fills the swinging lifestyle , because we see it as simply nsa sex , nothing more and nothing less .

So there are loads more out there who see it in the same way , and they let others down without a care as it’s only sex . Soulless , meaningless and not something to get all het up over I guess .

In the seven years we have been swinging I have to say that we have never let anyone down though . Not once , as despite the fact that it’s only sex , people deserve more respect than they are given by the low life that arrange meets and don’t even have the decency to cancel , or let the poor people who travel and look forward to the meet know that they aren’t going to show up .

Hehe that's a very devious calculating idea. Post a status update about being let down to try and win the sympathy vote.

I seriously couldn't do that to someone, whether I knew them well or were a complete stranger. I've had to cancel a couple of meets last minute for genuine reasons and the people concerned were fine with it and we rearranged. I've also got a bad feeling last minute about a couple of guys so cancelled. They got really nasty so my gut instinct was correct.

I'm not sure if they actually get a twisted kick out of doing it or genuinely think the other person will get shitty if they change their mind? Everyone has the right to cancel, no one is owed anything on here and I'd much rather just say that than go quiet and ignore people. Its just plain nasty.

Everyone has got the right to cancel and I don't begrudge that. There aren't many valid reasons for not letting you know though and simply going missing

There is NEVER a valid reason to do that to someone.

I once turned up at a house for a meet - and the lady who answered the door knew nothing about our 'meet'.

It must have been a set up..

Good job her hub was out

Exactly this. Some meets are a bigger gamble than others, only invest the time and money that you are willing to lose.

Worst let down for me wasn’t on here it was on pof.

Drove to Bromley which is an hour for me but I’m willing to travel for the right girl.

It was a dinner date and both agreed to meet at 7 o’clock outside the shopping centre where Wagamama is.

7 came and gone. By 7:30 I thought I’m obviously having dinner by myself.

After two days had gone past she told me “oh sorry I forgot” even though she had confirmed our meeting just before I left home.
