Has anyone else noticed that people you’ve messaged on here come up on your friends you may know, on Facebook? And I don’t mean texting between phones, just messaging them on their profile.

Very strange.

All the time, which is 1 of the reasons I won't have public face pics

That's why you should use fab in private browsing, other sites can't track it with cookies then

And use a different email address...cookies link the 2 sites together...

Mrs was proper stalked by someone even as far as a LinkedIn request...

Removed the email address and no random connections since.

There’s a few come up on mine, we’ve never met we messaged each other once and now they come up on my friends you may know all the time. It’s not right as now I could know everything about them, where they live, kids, work. If you were a wrongun you could cause some serious personal damage.

We’d like to know what the draconian moderators think about this and what their suggestions to rectify it might be.

If you swop mobile numbers they come up in suggested friends. Just delete your mobile number from fb & you won’t appear on anyone’s list.

By the sounds of it, it’s Facebook doing the stalking ! There must be a tech way of not using cookies here ?

Private browsing and separate email, then nothing links the two.

We use private browsing on the phone and laptop, we’re going to change our email address on here as well.

Second question, do you think we should tell the female that keeps popping up on my Facebook, as she is very kinky and clearly likes to keep her private and public life very separate. Or would that be weird? We’ve never met her but was arranging to meet her to fulfil one of her very kinky submissive outdoor fantasies.

Personally, I think I would only give it a mention if you meet them face to face - it won't come across as weird then as you put it.

On the basis you know her i would tell her. I would want to know how easy it was to walk into someones personal life. So she can protect herself.

I would message her on here and say she’s popped up on your FB, she might need to tweak her privacy settings or she may already know she does appear ...

We don’t know her, just messaged once a while ago. So we’re a bit worried that we would look like stalkers, but then again we would want to know if it was the other way round.

I think we will message her xx

We’ve messaged her. But I’ve realised there’s four other people on suggested friends at the moment that seem to be there for no reason, but I ha e a funny feeling they are all off here.

This could be really terrible, you could really mess peoples lives up, black-mail, bribery would be very easy with the information Facebook shows.

The use of cookies to track your Internet activity and linking of mobile numbers etc is one of the reasons we use KIK to chat off site. As well as email addresses exclusively for our private fun . Saves the sex/kink part bleeding into our public/family personas.

I tend to find only 3 reasons someone random would pop up on Facebook. They looked at your profile, you have their number and they have it linked to their account or you have mutual friends. Facebook can’t dredge Fab for info. My FB is on lock down just in case though.

No that’s not right mrsmac, I have mine on private, I have never spoken or know these people, the only connection is fab. A couple of them we haven’t even messaged, just looked at their page or pictures. We think this is seriously out of order and could be really abused.

We love to know what the fab moderators think about this. We think it needs seriously looking into more.

I have FB but don't go on it much, I'm worried though.

The email I use for this and the one I use for my FB account are different though, so I presume this shouldn't be an issue?

Apologies then I may be incorrect. In all my years on/off Fab and switching between the site and other social media it has yet to happen randomly.

I’ve had this too, no phone or email on Facebook, no photos common to both sites. A guy who messaged me (didn’t even know my surname and hadn’t seen my face pic, which I only send on request and don’t have on my friends section ) found me on Facebook and sent a friend request.

I messaged admin to ask how that could have happened but no response.

All I could do was lock down Facebook which is a shame as a few old friends have contacted me through there before

Install the ghostery plugin to your browser. It isn't just FB, it is a high percentage of all websites.

Always use in private browsing, always use an add blocker to stop persistent cookies, and if you add one 'friend' that's on here to Facebook, and they have friends also on here, highly likely it will show up... Best solution, delete the Facebook account, they are a bunch of money grabbing armpits anyhow.

I think people can find you using face recognition on Facebook (you can turn this off).

If you've got a face pic of have sent one on fab, they could then use this to try and find you on Facebook

You can go into private settings on fab and tick for no search engines to pick it up that should help cut it down

Facebook is so insidious. Did you know that any webpage that has a Facebook like or share button on it is watched by Facebook. I think I'm right in saying the webpage automatically downloads cookies to your machine that watches your browsing habits and sends the info back to Facebook. And you don't even need to be a member. It'll just collate that info on you and store it just in case you later join.

I had a guy message me and sent me photos of my children!

He had accessed my Facebook through my phone number, my own fault for not having my security as high as it should of been on Facebook.

I have learnt a valuable lesson. Instantly secured Facebook and I hardly give my phone number out these days.

I've read somewhere that Facebook has a profile for everyone even if they're not a member. Not sure if that's the tin foil hat conspiracy theorists or the truth. I'm assuming it's true. *squishes tin foil hat down tighter*

Agreed, we never looked back.

Also, people need to get it into their dumb heads that if you post pictures of your children on any website no matter what or how big it is then you are at risk of them being misused, and no website is more misused than facebook. Over a decade and folk still don't get that.

Did you swap numbers. If you swap numbers and you link your number to Facebook. Within a few days, the friendfinder system will show this person on your suggested friends feed

I always look at fab in private/incognito mode on my browser but it is a little concerning that it happens.

Facebook may also pick up other users who where at a location you visited and suggest them as friends so it may be worth disabling your location settings before arriving at a meet.
