"Very, very rarely bother responding to Winks, find them to be used by lazy people" Oh are your winks lazy? That explains a lot. I often get winks from women who want to express interest but are a little shy and would rather I started the conversation. I find it quite sweet.

"We went to delete winks this morning as we just don't respond to them. Upon doing this we realised we had just been winked by a couple who's pictures we often fab. So, what did we do? Winked back (we've not done this in ages). The couple instantly friends request us. We message back saying we don't make friends unless we have chatted. A message comes back. That's fine, what are you to too.... Well what does that mean, so we ask. Not unreasonable we thought. Next thing we are blocked. Our point here is. Folk get upset when this happens to them but we find it brilliant when the idiots filter themselves out. Strengthens our feelings, don't respond to winks. We used to send a lovely message responding to winks with no reply or like we said blocked. Hail the idiots who are the best filters for us all" To jump on the band wagon, unsolicited friends invites also get our goat!! If we added every person that asked we would have 1000’s of virtual friends

From a single man's perspective you spend alot of time sending messages just to be ignored 9 times out of 10 and don't always have time to send messages (not lazy just not always on here for hours at a time) it's just a quick and easy way to show a slight interests xx But that's just my point veiw might be completely off the mark with it though xx

"Err I'd say you messed that one up. I never respond to winks with winks. Just as I don't reply to a "hi how are you?" with a "hi how are you?" If I'm interested I'll always send a nice introductory message, perhaps even with a face pic if I'm feeling frisky and wild. Best foot forward always. Who cares if they don't respond. " You obviously didn't read the post. WE DON'T RESPOND TO WINKS, to which we explained why. You are right though we messed up by responding to wink. But all is good as they showed a lack of respect in their response and obviously didn't read our profile. Lucky escape we call it

It is an indication that I am interested. If the other party is too they can respond by a message or wink back. And a convesation can start. I would not condider a wink lazy. It seems pointless spending considerable time writing a message if the other party is not interested, ignors it or deletes it.

You got winked by someone who's pictures you often Fab and yet nothing you did in response to that was remotely attractive. Sure... they didn't exactly win a medal for the way they acted but this encounter sounds like a classic "when couples get it wrong" exchange. I'd revert back to your prior way of dealing with winks, try to be more attractive and positive in the way you relate to people, and just get over the fact that many people won't reply to your messages and hold out for the ones that do. That's what I was trying to say. If you don't want to bother with winks that's your perogative. Heck if you want you can stop bothering with any mail in future either. It's no skin off my nose. I'm just giving you advice on what works for me. It's best to be super laid back about how people approach you. Even someone who starts off with a friends invite may end up being a fun new friend. Who cares if they contacted you the "wrong" way?

"What confuses us is those people we wink back, who then look at our profile 6 or 7 times...but no message. Are they expecting us to reply? Are they having second thoughts? Or are they saying in the privacy of their bedroom..."well darling [clenched teeth], it wasn't me who winked them, it must have been you "" Again, Hmm and her, a wink back is cyclical. Send them a message and get a discussion going. It'll avoid all these situations in future... and if they don't reply or delete the message they're just twats you didn't want to meet anyway so move on

I always wink if interested and always respond " We used to respond but as time went by it seemed more and more who just wink seem to be time wasters, picture collectors or folk who just not up for a meet. We use to type out a lovely message of introduction and more times than enough the response was just a friend request. We gave up, put it on our profile as well. If folk wink they obviously haven't read through our profile. Would we wink someone who says we don't respond to winks or send a message. A message it would be. The only fool was us for responding after we stated we don't.

"We use the wink quite a bit. There's lots of profiles on here with people who look good, but their profile doesn't really give much info as to what they're about. Now, chances are they're not into the same stuff as us, which is fine. We're not about to message every single one to find out "no, this person only wants older guys, no this person only wants vanilla, whatever." So instead, we put all our info (and then some) on our profile, and send out a wink. They can look over our profile. If it's not for them, nobody's wasted their time. If something catches their eye too, we can start talking. " To be honest if someone cant make the effort to put any info on their profile we wouldn't want to message, not that we would message everyone who's picture looked great, we wouldn't have time to go to work. A little effort goes a long way. As you said all the info people need to know is on your profile, you make the effort and reap the reward

Same with friend requests " Yea we know but we don't open the winks anyway so wouldn't see them. Its not a great problem. We do get friend requests from same people at times once we have deleted all the unsolicited friend requests. We don't tend to block people at all either. Suppose we are just to laid back. Nothing is a bother really. Only started this thread to stir peoples thoughts really.
