Automated Decline

Emailed somebody on here last night as an introduction, and was sent a polite message in reply saying they were not interested despite the initial nice message.

Which I was happy to appreciate given the reply.

Thinking about it, wouldn't it be beneficial on here for people to send an automated reply to people they're not interested in - which they can select from a drop down menu or some feature?

It's easy for the Sender to see their message get read and deleted without reason. Which can often be interpreted as rude, when that's not always the case. And I'm pretty sure most women on here have seen follow up messages in their inbox that have been quite aggressive for deleting without reply.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned or recommended before on here.

That actually sounds like a good idea. It could also say 'no need to thanks us for a reply'

I wouldn't like it as I prefer being anxious and wanking furiously while waiting for a reply

This is a subject that's been go over again and again and again.

For some people it's a matter of time. They don't have the time to reply to messages. And choosing an automated one would still take time.

It doesn't eliminate the "but whhhhyyyy?" Replies. Or the abusive replies.

Which you can get whether you're polite or not. I've said "thanks for the message but you're not my type" and gotten "yeah well you're a fat ugly mess. Didn't want you anyway"

Some people will be rude regardless of a polite reply.

FAQs, if anyone bothered to read them. Answer the whole "not replying is rude" thing.

It would be as quick as deleting it. Select Send Boom.

No but it would reduce the numbers.

Then just block them after sending the message. Or just block them without sending an auto reply.

"FAQs, if anyone bothered to read them. Answer the whole "not replying is rude""

Unfortunately, nobody ever reads instructions. Unless they happen to glance at the FAQs by chance.

I do it just waiting for a Domino's.

(Usually before I get escorted out the premises)

You'd get the same whinging, just "they didn't even bother to write me a message, just used the script!"

Suppose you could always add to the message before you send it. Just to add the slightest personal touch if you REALLY had the time.

Spot on!

There is no need for an automated messages, people should be adult enough to know a deleted message means not interested, if it doesn’t? They will message you back.

As you said, an automated “no thanks” won’t stop the “but why” messages, it will just encourage them!

FAB is fine as it is I think!

I read the FAQs as soon as I joined, so some of us actually do.

But that defeats the object of a automated message.

For those of us who get tons of messages it isn’t going to reduce them by adding a “personal touch” for the fragile guys who get annoyed by a deleted message or a no thanks.

Nobody is making you HAVE to send it. It would just be a potential option.

If I got a sexually aggressive message, I'd delete. If they seemed nice enough and took time to write something, but I wasn't interested.. Could easily just send them something automated in response.

Do as you please with it basically.

It would help a lot and would take no extra time than hitting delete.

When mailing a couples profile... you are mailing two people... Therefore your message could be read by one and not the other.

There might be a couple wanting to.mdet today... I message them and am awaiting there reply. Because they have not replied or deleted my message I'm unsure if they are interested and don't know whether to approach another couple through fear of being labelled a time waster.

A 'SORRY NOT THIS TIME' automated response would be good too so that we can message again

Well I doubt Fab will be taking your idea into consideration anytime soon, so I guess it’s great the way it is already and it works!

It takes two seconds to delete a message, maybe four seconds to send a “no thanks” and probably would take a bit longer to choose from a drop down menu an automated message so I can’t see any positives for it to be honest, since it would just bring in the same responses a “no thanks” does.

If it were to be implemented I’d still delete messages I wasn’t interested in as I do now, it’s the easiest way to tell when someone isn’t interested IMO.

I can see it already in the profiles!

“Do not send automated messages it is rude and impersonal”

“She didn’t even send me a decent personal reply just an automated message she thinks she’s better than me”

“Sick of these automated messages!”

Hahaha. Can’t please em all!

nope. Delete is one click.

-

Nope. To select an reply would probably involve opening the message, selecting "automatic reply" then picking the reply then sending it.

It doesn't eliminate the "but whhhhyyyy?" Replies. Or the abusive replies.

No but it would reduce the numbers. - how? A reply saying no is a reply saying no. Automatic/preselected ones won't stop people asking why

Some people will be rude regardless of a polite reply.

Then just block them after sending the message. Or just block them without sending an auto reply.

- ah yes. Because the answer is to block people. Not for others to improve their behaviour

FAQs, if anyone bothered to read them. Answer the whole "not replying is rude"

Unfortunately, nobody ever reads instructions. Unless they happen to glance at the FAQs by chance. Well obviously some do, otherwise how would we know what they say.

And if no one chooses to read the "instructions" then they can't complain when things don't go their way.

I messaged a woman the other day and she didn't reply. What do you reckon?

I'm thinking she's really into me but just too shy to say. Maybe she was so busy fingering herself to my photos that she just didn't have a finger free to type with? I'm pretty sure not replying to me shows I've really managed to stand out from the crowd. It probably means she's so bowled over by me that she doesn't know what to write. Either that or she's playing hard to get.

I can't quite make my mind up but the chase is definitely on now she's given me such a clear sign she's so interested in me that she's incapable of replying. It's that classic "boy meets girl, girl totally blanks boy" thing isn't it? Two can play at that. I'm going to not reply back. Just so she knows I'm really into her too.
