Annoying Filter preferences

I always find it somewhat bemusing when individual or couples advertise meets stating that they want to meet Males yet when you try and message them, you find that Single Males are blocked .

How do you not know your own filter preferences? Bizzare!

Surely you drop them though if and when you put a meet status specifically asking for those you have blocked to contact you?

Which is fine, right up to the point where they ask for men to get in touch and then whine that none of them did.

why? all you are doing then is opening the flood gates for fuckwits.

being that you are straight i doubt you encounter the endless "hey hows you? good thanks, yourself? horny lol" messages or "horny lol fancy a fuck"

I can't see the point in advertising for a meet and blocking the people you want to meet from messaging you.

If you don't want messages there's no point advertising.

The last time i checked the filtering system, i didnt see sub options in the Single Male tick box. You are either a single Male or not.

i dont even know what that means.

Just cos you want to fuck them doesnt mean they want to fuck you so why would they want a message from you? filtering puts the ball in their court not yours.

We quite often put up a meet including we want to meet single guys at a club. But that never means we want single guys to message for exactly the reason in the second post, the good ones are outnumbered at least 50:1. Just isn't worth the effort.

And the reason for advertising is to let the single guys who might want to meet us know which club we'll be in and if they then read the profile they'll see how to approach us. All quite simple

Maybe they’ve messaged a number of single men previously, and hoping one of those will message once seeing the status (if you’ve contacted previously you get past the filters)

When you click on a hot photo and see 1000 have fabbed. Think of that as 1000 potential messages to that person. Same goes with setting a meet

"On the flip side, this thread could also be.

How would you know your message has been ignored.

One of the first things we do is check out the profile of anyone messaging us (assuming the visible message is more than a generic 'hi').

If we've got stealth mode enabled, you'd never know we'd looked.

We might just delete the message without opening it at that point. One of us might have read it and then marked it as unread again for the other to see.

If the combo of profile and message doesn't appeal, we might just move on without replying, depending on volume of messages we've had.

Your message appearing to be unread and/or deleted doesn't always mean it has been ignored.

Here's how I see it.

They have single guys blocked.

They put up a meet looking single guys.

That way only guys they have spoke to in the past can get in contact, cuts down on too many unwanted messages.

Personally I don't see an issue with that.

Exactly. Profile checked, message read. As per Fab FAQ, no reply = no interest. Not ignored. You are just not necessarily aware of the fact your message and profile were read.

Suit yourself, but imo choosing to disregard the person following a selection process that includes the message, is not, as you originally stated, disregarding the message.

It may not be what you intended with your OP, but it's how we read it.

I have done this in the past, it’s a way of letting those I’m friends with or have chatted to in the past know that I’m looking to meet, and those outside of those parameters can’t message. What’s wrong with that?

I’ve also advertised meets which start with *Existing friends only* and dropped my filters and guess what? Inundated with people who hadn’t read the meet fully, let alone my profile.

Perhaps these couples have already been in conversation with number of suitable people. If they contacted you first the filters won’t apply. I’d just take it as they don’t want to meet you and move on.

That filter doesn’t block all single guys. It blocks single guys who aren’t already friends or haven’t had a two way conversation on here. Therefore adding a meet to look for single guys, but still having that filter on, is a way of advertising to your friends that you are looking to meet.

It’s really not that difficult.

Yes. If we were friends on here and I had the single guys filter on, you would still be able to message. Likewise if we had chatted previously.

The site doesn’t give the option to only show meets to those who we are friends with, so there really is no other option than to keep the filter on and use the functions which are available.

Just rely on the fact that if someone wanted to hear from you, they’d adjust their filters accordingly. You won’t go far wrong from that
