Hello everyone,

Just wonder what bed people would recommend that does not make noise or squeak during some goooood sex.

I have read on the internet that beds from warren evans have good "exercise ratings" and don't squeak but unsure how true it is and the store have now closed.

I want to seek views from people who are like minded on here and have probably faced similar issue. I have already searched the forum but couldn't find any similar posts. If there's any, I'll love to read.

Thank you for your support.

Are you saying this bed has been able to withstand a good amount of bedmantics exercise without letting the whole world know?

Solid wooden bed from where? I don't want to invest in a bed only to have it defeat the purpose.

I have a wooden one that I have reinforced the joints with joiners. It lasted 2 weeks and now it's worse

Yes but it's usually in the undercarraige and springs where the problems start

So we've broken a fair few beds over the years

Avoid IKEA/Argos anything DIY...in the end we gave up on 4 poster beds after 3 met their demise.

We now have a leather slay bed from Benson for Beds and to be honest it's holding up well no squeak whatsoever, you can still do bondage on the bed as we have a set that allows us to loop under the bed.

Thank you for that!!! Some of my research came up with mahogany wood and I was thinking of a poster bed but the thought of spending £££ on a bed that looks nice but makes noise has been making me reluctant which was why I came on here. I will look on Benson website after the England match.

A decent divan bed with a good mattress won’t squeak, take the wheels off the base tho to prevent movement.

We bought an IKEA slatted bed base. During two different foursomes the slats popped out, prompting shock followed by laughter. So I rebuilt it as a solid base. It's more comfortable, doesn't squeak and you could shag an elephant on it quite safely. (Not that shagging elephants is my thing, you understand).

If its wooden joints squeaking, put talc in them. Works on floorboards too.

Thanks for this idea, I'll just add talc to all joints

Please explain what you mean by rebuilding it as a solid Base. (Not that I'm planning to shag an elephant) lol

A Chippy made mine from scratch from solid oak. Pricey but sturdy, built in the bedroom and no squeak

Yeah, with the castors on it tended to move with the motion of my body but once I took them off it’s as solid as a rock, no movement at all and there’s no joints to squeak.

Actually I have a serious question on that: when you replaced the slats with a solid base, where did you get the replacement base from? We have a slatted ikea bed base and the slats are a total PITA for moving, even just during normal sleep cycles.

I suffer from this. Live in a shared house and the bed is very squeeky. It has, on occasion, meant being cagey about a late night meet. That and the lack of soundproofing on my floor.

Then, if your doing it right, it's not the bed you have to worry about squeeking, but the activity partner!

Just get an 8x4 sheet of marine ply. Cheap and solid.

Quite a few people voting for divan with tyres off. I have seen a liquidation stock at super king size divan for under 500 with no headboard. I might consider it...

I second this. That is the only thing that is unanimous based on my research. So, I'll definitely be getting a memory foam. Playing aside, hopefully get a better night sleep too.

Thanks, a divan is now an option. I never like their look but if it will resolve the squeaky issues - I'm converted.

Same here. Broke 3 beds and thought I'll do some DIY on the third one by screwing the joints together with some heavy-duty joiners and screws. It worked really well for 1 week and a bit. I felt like a handy man using the drill and screwdriver, thinking I had sorted it out but now, it's worse than before!

Exactly this, except it was several smaller sheets of ply supported by battens and some additional legs. 22mm holes drilled in the ply at intervals to ventilate the mattress. The slats went in the bin. I wasn't kidding about elephant-proofing!

I had to do the same with my old bed but since getting a devan I wont go back unless I spent a few thousand on a solid wood very durable sleigh bed. Having said that though devan’s are sturdy, plenty of storage space and I’d much rather spend the extra on a mattress, i think my bed cost a couple hundred and the mattress cost about £1,200

I’ve broken 5 beds so far with slats and I got tired of sleeping on the floor lol
