Is it easier to flirt with someone who is too far away?

I'm wondering if this is a thing.

Do you find it easy to flirt wildly with people you know you'll never meet because they're too far away? Meanwhile when anyone's within reach you find yourself being much more critical about whether you want to meet them and therefore tether your flirting more?

May explain why the forums are so full of flirting but so little action

Good theory. Maybe.

Seems to be sod's law that people attracted to each other are at opposite ends of the country.

.

No, I don't find that's what happens with me. The more likely I am (and the closer the date and their location is) to me the more likely I will flirt. As much as I enjoy chatting with people, I do actually like to meet and will invest more energy in those who I am going to/think I am going to meet.

I agree Meli. But I do wonder how many people on the forums do this. I wouldn't blame them. It's far easier to flirt with someone you know you're never going to meet. Especially if you have super high standards. If someone is too far away it doesn't matter if they meet those standards or not. So you're free to flirt with them. If they're close they suddenly need to meet those criteria or you're leading them on.

It just seems uncanny that the only real interest I get is from ridiculously far away... and that other people are experiencing the same thing too. I'm happy to entertain that anyone who lives near me just coincidentally doesn't like me. But I just wonder if there's something else going on underneath that and wanted to ask others what they felt

I flirt with people miles away sometimes but sometimes its worth it we are meeting somebody at the end of the month , both in the same place at the right time

I tend to flirt with those I'm interested in meeting. Those I'm interested in meeting are then obviously those within reach of me locally or if I'm visiting somewhere. If they don't flirt back then I move on as I do need the mind engaged before anything else can happen.

Totally. Same in real life too. I'll flirt happily with anyone unless there's a chance of something actually happening, and then crippling shyness takes over

Northampton Somewhere

I rarely flirt with people who are too far away for me to meet them, really can't see the point tbh.

I don’t even talk to people that are too far away. No point for me!

No I don't think that's true ! For me personally at least ! I think is a waste of time to chat with someone far from me ,as the chance of meeting with would be less !

Also I don't use the forums to meet or chat . I like this space when we can give our 5 pence ,that's all .

Flirting on the forums to me, is a bit of harmless fun. I do like to flirt a little, with those i fancy, regardless of distance. I tend to be more serious in conversations with those i genuinely want to meet, because i want to get to know them that bit more.
