I'd much prefer to wear a decent well fitting pair of cotton shorts than some of the so called "sexy" underwear designed for men - I did buy a couple of pairs (including some mesh ones) from Lovehoney's LHM range a couple of years ago and they're at the bottom of the draw and will likely never see daylight again as they weren't overly comfortable nor did they look great.

Mesh or very breathable men’s undies are a boon when on holiday in hot climates. Not ideal for cold, Scottish winters (or most summers)
