Most gyms have people of all shape & sizes so don't worry. Also if you pick the right one, they will encourage you to help achieve the outcome you desire

Take it steady. Get some good music on and enjoy. Everyone had a first time and everyone has bits they don't like or want to change. Well done for joining. And for the record you look lovely

the fattest person in the gym - or out for a run, power-walk, or whatever - is the one who deserves the most respect for getting their work-out on

Yes, it's good you're going.

There's loads of shapes, sizes and ages at the gym I use. It's really friendly and welcoming. Hope yours is too.

Don’t worry about that ! Good for you

The gym I go to is a real bodybuilders gym

The only girls there are half my age , perfectly contoured makeup, stick thin and chat to the guys

I don’t care cos I go for me and if they are looking down their nose at me it gives them something to actually do there

Exactly! Go there and do your own thing, ignore all the eye balls. They only wish they had half the will and determination you have so go go go!

I would imagine most of the men are looking at you rather than them......Give me a woman over a girl any time........or thinking about it, as well.....

Trust me the reason I like it there is the men are more concerned actually pumping iron than what I’m doing.

Loads of them are on here but understand I am a sweaty mess when I’m there Haha

"So I've realised I'm going to be the fattest person at the gym I've just joined

Absolutely! I may not be classed as fat but every day I spend sitting on my ass at work is literally reducing my lifespan.

Just take it easy and build up gradually. Best tip my PT gave me was to include 20g protein with your 3 meals a day. It honestly makes a difference to your strength very quickly. Miss it and your body will start breaking down muscle to fuel your activity. Really helped me combat the sugar cravings and have a healthier diet.

Good luck x

We all have to start somewhere.

I was 22st this time last year. Got down to 19st 6 just focus on yourself at the gym.

When I joined the gym 2 years ago I lost 2 stone in 6 weeks. But I think I've built up muscle since then. Best advice I've had from my PT is never give up !!

Good luck, it becomes addictive.

"Good luck, it becomes addictive. "

Which you can use to your advantage - as a motivator. It takes about two weeks or so to get there. Try to stick it out until that kicks in.

And I'll echo the good luck

Good for you! Everybody else is too busy looking at themselves or sweating.

Try a spin class they turn the lights off and have disco lights going!

Keep it up

It’s great that you’re going, regardless of what size you are. Not only are you doing it for yourself, you’ll be indirectly inspiring other women too.
