Got chatting to another couple who told us their aim was to go to a party at least twice a month and perhaps have the odd meet midweek in between. This was as well as going on swinging holidays to Gran canaria twice a year! Seems to be a hobby and way of life for them!

As a couple starting out - is this the norm?

Nothing is the norm !

Everyone will be different .

We try to get out a couple of times a week now . Seven years ago when we started swinging we would be out five times a week . Clubs , parties , dogging , home meets , pubs , pre arranged and random , I guess we’ve done it all .

If we get out once a month we are doing well. Kids, shifts, real life and the stars always seem to get in the way!

OP there is no normal.

Some people love to get out and have as much play as possible and plan their life around it. For others real life gets in the way and they meet infrequently.

There is no right or wrong way - just whatever works for you and you are comfortable with.

Whenever we feel like it, when we first started out 3 years ago we were going to a club every other week and gradually we’ve slowed down and just go to clubs or arrange meets as and when probably only 5 or 6 times a year now, but we like socials too and have done Gran Canaria a couple of times (just came back last week!) but it’s holiday first then swinging if we fancy it over there.

As _loswingers says nothing is the norm. You do what you're happy with and other people will do what suits them. It's easy when you first start swinging to feel that you're not doing it right or quite like everyone else but there isn't one right way.

We don't meet all that often and we insist on a social first.

We have ranged from a club visit every week, plus maybe a social and a party every 6 or 8 weeks, to doing no swinging at all for 3 or 4 months at a time due to family, work and other commitments, and everything in between.

We knew one couple who were getting through more than 20 meets a month!

Like others have said, it depends on what you want, and how often you can make it happen.

We haven’t met together in a few years since having a baby, who is now 2. My husband met a few times but decided it wants for him, as he enjoyed it much more with me. But yeah there’s no normal, just is what makes you happy! C x

I think we're on the quieter end of the spectrum really. On a busy month, we might visit a club or arrange a meet twice a month. Other times it might be 2-3 months between shenanigans.

We'll be online every day, chatting and looking at new people though. I think if we did it too much then it could lose its appeal for us.

We would say just keep it in perspective.

It's a lifestyle, not your everyday life.

Whatever fits in around your everyday life is how we approach it so there is no set pattern.
