I certainly am.

But it's not about intelligence per se. My ex had a MENSA IQ but she was useless in day to day, common sense situations. Then most recent ex wasn't particularly smart but very bright and street smart. So depends really

I find it interesting concept, intelligence is difficult to put into a social construct.

Intellectual capacity mixed with emotional intelligence, I would suggest is much more an attractive proposition than,"hey, I've a PHD in the reproductive cycle of the North Atlantic Barnacle."

Of course, one man's Socrates is another man's Del Boy.

It’s part of the attraction for me, but not all.

A reasonably new Fab friend is far more intelligent than me (I’m not daft but I’m no professor), and it’s definitely a turn on. I like intelligent and assertive. That’s a winning combination right there. Add in some facial hair....

I don't think the attraction is to intelligence per se. It's to people who can hold their interest and have a decent conversation. The topic or depth of that conversation is less relevant than the spark and connection.

Is Sapiosexual not just one of those things women would like people to think of them?

Not that it isn't a real thing, or that everyone is lying. Just that some think it's a nice trait or kink to flesh out an otherwise standard profile?

In reply to this from a male perspective, I've dated people who are massively educated and what society would class as intelligent.

However, some have had all the personality of a wet dish cloth and its soul destroyingly boring.

A good sense of humour and knowing how to conduct yourself in social situations is more than adequate for me.

Not to say that I don't want someone who doesn't know the difference between your and you're...

I think for many women power/strength is attractive. So it follows that mental might may be a turn on.

Plus everyone I assume wants someone they can at least converse on the same level. So I would say relative intelligence is important to most people.

"Will you classify yourself as sapiophile

Do you find intelligent men sexy? "

Further pedantry alert: if we’re talking sexual attraction, it would be ‘sapiophiliac’ (or ‘echypnophile’, if you want).

.

The suffix ‘-phile’ denotes a (fond) interest in; Anglophile, Francophile, Nipponophile and bibliophile are amongst the most commonly recognised.

.

Meanwhile, the suffix ‘-philiac’ denotes sexual arousal; necrophiliacs, autogynephiliacs (we have a fair few on Fab), or stigmatophiliacs.

.

The common misuse of ‘-phile’ to denote sexual attraction is due to the most widely used one; you know the one that begins with ‘p’ and is used to describe sexual attraction to kids. We should use the ‘-philiac’ suffix, but it’s a bit late now.

.

(Further pedantry alert; the ‘p’ word is commonly - wrongly - used to describe sexual attraction to all those under age. Technically, it only relates to pre-pubescent children. ‘Hebephiliac’ (pubescent children) and ‘ephebephiliac’ (post-pubescent, adolescent children) have the dubious honour of being the words most of us rarely use. And then there’s the subset of pederasty, which has gone in and out of fashion over centuries...)

"Will you classify yourself as sapiophile

Do you find intelligent men sexy?

And then there’s the subset of pederasty, which has gone in and out of fashion over centuries...)"

Ok ok ok .. maybe not THAT intelligent

I do certainly love people who have interesting things to talk about and some form of originality in their thoughts and opinions and most people like that are highly intelligent. People forget there is a big difference between those who are intelligent and those who are merely highly educated. One can be educated to a very high standard but have no intelligence as they have just learned to regurgitate appropriate information for exams and academic evaluations. I like intellectual people, whether they have academic intelligence, social intelligence or emotional intelligence or even better; all three. It is no good being a rocket scientist if you can't talk about anything else, still live in your Mum's apron strings and don't know how a conversation works.

I wonder how sapiophiles judge who is intelligent or not.

Do they administer IQ tests?

Love to see that in a profile “Before we fuck, I would like you to do this test to measure your intelligence”

From my experience on here,a nice big cock is one of the main attributes a woman really wants.. Even when they say they don't want to see any cock pics.

I think when they say they're attracted to intelligence it actually means they're attracted to an intelligent guy who also has a nice cock!

I'm quite intelligent but not so well endowed. I'd be interested to know what I would do if someone offered me less brain power in exchange for a bigger cock!

Of course I'd go for the bigger cock

Intelligence is a very broad term. As others have pointed out it can be split down into many sub sections and level. And a lot depends on the measuring stick your using. I don't see intelligence as anything different than any other factor to attraction in the free market of attraction. Your idea of what intelligence is and if that is desirable or not is something totally bespoke to you.

Whenever I see 'sapiophile' on a profile be it on here or anywhere else I usually switch off and think 'oh here go another pretentious wanker'. There not really looking for intelligence there looking for someone who can hold their own in a conversation and can make them laugh. As stated before in this thread what people perceive as intelligent is subjective, to a lot of my friends I'm quite intelligent but to a few of people in the Law Firm I work for I'd be considered quite behind even though most of them if locked in a Heinz Wearhouse with a spoon and a can opener would starve to death.

I don't know about the ladies, but there is no one thing at any one time that works for me.

Some days I will read a funny/clever profile and think "I need to talk to this person".

The next day, a picture of a lovely bum and a profile that says "Cum an gettit" works just as well.

Aren't we all a bit like that, if you're not actually looking for a long term partner?

You know what it stands for, right?

.

I’m being facetious, obviously; I get your point; it only measures a certain aspect of intelligence, and one that doesn’t necessarily mean that someone is articulate, resourceful, knowledgeable, and witty, which are probably the main things people mean when they use the word ‘intelligent’ as a catch-all.

Yup and you know what the full name of North Korea is right? The best explanation I've heard is that intelligence is like software and IQ is the hardware than runs the software. They correlate to some extent.

IQ certainly correlates with future academic and financial success, innovation and driving the world forward. However, it is only one factor. Probably a bit like the size of your cock predicting your ability to satisfy a woman...
