Meat eaters .... could you decide not to eat meat ever again?....as in cut out meat completely.

And vegetarians .....could you decide you would quite like to try meat ... or maybe you did used to eat meat and miss certain meats ....

I used to be a non meat eater although I never called myself vegetarian (pescatarian wasn't a "thing" then).

I could quite happily go back to being pescatarian as I've never really liked most meat anyway.

I'm not sure I could be completely vegetarian or vegan though.

I tried to go veggie twice...once as a teenager and once in my early 20s. And I just can't do it...I love meat! I source as responsibly as I can, free range, organic etc...but I can't give it up and if I think about it too long the guilt sits in the pit of my gut...I may try again one day! But for now I've just accepted that I am a meat eater and try not to give it too much thought!

I do love veggie and vegan options most of the time too tho and often have meat free weeks or months

No i love meat, food is my biggest enjoyment i have meat with everything. A meal isnt a meal without meat in my eyes, my partner decided to go vegie, i tried it we both lasted 6 weeks... 6 weeks of hell, both looked anemic, pale & and skin took a turn for the worst.

I don't like meat. I don't like the texture mostly. Some things look really tempting but I know I won't like it.

I guess it would be different if I stopped eating meat for moral reasons though.

I don’t miss eating meat at all. My favourite foods can all be made vegetarian and I never feel like I’m missing out.

Never, I love meat! I do enjoy vegetarian foods but I'd miss meat too much to give it up full time.

I could give up meat but I couldn’t eat meat substitutes gross. I’d rather eat veg and pulses etc

MrH was vegetarian when we met. Had been for 16 years but suddenly started eating meat again not long after we got married. Now he’s a DEFINITE meat eater and couldn’t give it up!

I would never go vegetarian. There are very few things in life that are better than a well cooked (NOT well done!) rib eye steak.

I couldn’t go veggie. It’s a shame as I hate the thought of an animal dying so I can eat it. I’m a hypocrite but I just love meat!!!!

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

I am vegetarian and have been all of my life. My dad was a vegetarian before I was born. I have never had the urge to try meat or fish - I don’t feel I have missed out on anything. In the last few years there have been so many new foods that you can actually do it with minimal effort now

I think I enjoy meat too much! Don’t think I’d have the willpower to veggie, even if I wanted to.

I tried a veggie diet the other day to see if I'd enjoy it. To be honest it was really nice until I realised the next day that I'd actually made my bolognese with normal mince

I've been veggie now for over 27 yrs and I'm not tempted. I loved all meat and fish but couldnt and cannot ignore the animal welfare issues.

Also (as shown by the horse meat scandal) you never really know what you are eating. Plenty of people in the food chain who make their money selling on substandard or diseased product.

Totally agree!

I have never missed eating meat. I despair of the curelty inflicted on animals for the sake of eating their flesh.

I couldn't go vegetarian, unless it was an absolute necessity.

I enjoy meat. We're supposed to be omnivores and who am I to ignore nature

I couldn't go vegetarian or vegan. I don't eat a lot of meat but I also can't stand the veggie substitutes and dont like a lot of veggie dishes.

Some are okay but I wouldn't enjoy enough of a veggie or vegan diet to become a full time veggie or vegan.

I barely eat meat anyway. But eat quite a bit of dairy.

Not all of us veggies are so because we’re all drippy about animals.

I’ve happily prepared freshly shot ducks and pheasants and cooked them. I just don’t like eating them so I don’t.

that is a refreshing view that you can cook meat u just dont want to eat it. Fine good on ya.

we eat meat not as much as we used to mostly chicken and fish, but i never condemn someone who doesn't unlike most of the zealots who are vegan.

No, I couldn't cut out meat. It's not something I would ever consider. I have even eaten meat I have reared, beef, pork and lamb. I enjoy my vegetables, but as a compliment to my meat. I enjoy just a salad too.

I respect others choice to live how they wish.

As an aside, Ive never really understood why, soya for example is made to look like mince or a sausage? What's wrong with eating a bean?

Not a chance. Give up on enjoying a nice big juicy bacon sarnie??? I'd rather cut my arm off with a plastic picnic knife!!!

Been a veggie/vegan for 22years. Would never go back to eating meat or fish now. Veggie food had has moved on considerably since I made the switch. I do it for better health, animal welfare and environmental protection. That’s good enough for me.

An animal doesn’t want to die anymore than you do.

True , but unless they’re fertilised they’ll not become chicks ...

I’ve never really understood why they lay an egg a day when it won’t becime a chick ?

I go through phases where I think I could be a veggie, but although we both like fruit and veg etc, and have enjoyed veggie meals (even Mart who is a real meat eater), when it comes down to it I just enjoy meat too much.

We have eaten meat, like most, all of our lives. We have tried to cut down and to be honest we don't eat a lot of meat now. However, about a year and half back we decided we'd get some chickens as we have a huge garden and why not?

We bought 2 when they were 19 weeks old and 2 days later we sat down to eat chicken (not ours btw!) We looked at each other and both didn't feel right about it so we haven't eaten chicken since. We then got 2 more ex-battery hens and after seeing the state of them there's no way we could ever eat chicken again.

Chicken was without doubt our favourite meat, probably ate it 3 or 4 times a week. But we gave it up just like that and really don't miss it. So now instead of chicken curry we have various things such as mango curry...it may not sound much but it is 100 times more tastier than having meat in it.

Now we need to buy a cow and a pig and see if it has the same effect lol!

Usually have two or three days each week where I don't eat meat so don't see that going the whole hog ( no pun intended) would be a problem.

Apart from times when I've been accidentally (and in one case deliberately) been given it, I've not eaten meat for 26 years and fish for 22 years. I even don't eat gelatine, wear leather shoes etc. (I do eat prawn crackers though)

I could eat fish again, but I don't for moral reasons. I don't eat meat because I don't like it.

I have also been called the least militant veggie that someone has ever met - my view is you eat what you want, I'll eat what I want.

I said something similar , like if people actually realised the feelings and so on that animals have , would they still eat it ? I do believe we have empathy and most meat eaters do not even think about where their meat came from .

I do feel a bit guilty about eating meat.

And am totally aware of how we get it on the supermarket shelves

But I'm weak.

And in denial!

Sometimes U.K

30years a vegetarian/demi vegan and the thought of eating meat turns my stomach.

The only way I could eat meat before was by not thinking of how it was treated and killed to get to my plate.
