Blocking repeat offenders!!

So we’re just finding our feet on fab..and would like to adhere to the ‘fab etiquette’....is it acceptable to just block the repeat messengers?? Some are polite, despite being told no a lot! Some of them message daily! We try not to be rude but it gets a bit ridiculous after a while...so..is it harsh to just block them??

"Block away! "

Might have to start doing it...we have a kind of ‘it’s nice to be nice’ policy but it’s just getting stupid sometimes

The block is a tool to enhance your experience. It isn't the weapon of mass destruction some seem to believe it is. Perfectly acceptable to use at any time and for any reason.

Yes you’re right, although we are polite, and diplomatic, it seems to be falling on deaf ears most of the time x

I've been on and off here for 6 years and I've just started doing it. I think the new mailbox has helped with recognising those that do it. I never used to have more than 10 people on my block list, I now have a lot more!

I do think that most people here that are messaged by someone that is of no interest to them just block and move on.

i wouldn't say it was harsh but required as many will repeat message you and ask your resons of rejection, and this saves your time to go through that.

Best of luck

I used to be hesitant too as I felt I was being rude; but learnt it’s acceptable if needed. So block away as you need x

If they can't take a polite no as the answer and pester us we just block them to avoid the hassle.

Use the block button and all your message filters for a much happier fab experience. Otherwise some of those that you block will create a new profile just to message you again.

My advice is to block newbies, unverified and those with no pics as a minimum.

That is particularly useful to prevent mail from the wankers who join every Friday/Saturday night while pissed and horny, and then are gone by Sunday.

We rarely block as we will remain polite whatever the provocation We simply ignore or delete They soon give up We have blocked but only when seriously abusive

You are right OP, it is nice to be nice but sometimes you do have to draw a line.

If you do start blocking those who pester you think of it this way - you are being nice by saving them from wasting their time and they can focus on others who might be interested

Filters and blocks are the only way to keep sane on here for us ! We put that we will block on our profile and explain it. We banter and of course we play and go to clubs but we participate in the site to suit us. Its perfectly reasonable.

I've been on here for 2 years and never blocked anyone for being rude or persistant. I often wonder what the chat was like for this to happen. You can just tell them your going to block them as your not going to meet them but have a lovely day if you don't want to be harsh. You can use the features on here and still be nice x

When I was in a couples profile, we used the block button for people that we would never meet.

It saves you having to deal with the repeat offenders as you would never see them again.

Couples and single girls get plenty of messsges anyway...you don’t need more then necessary

When we first started out on Fan many moons ago, I used to be polite and reply to everyone who messaged, I soon realised that even when I was saying no politely, the fact I was replying at all seemed to be a green light to some people, to keep messaging and become a bit of a nuisance.

My approach now is to reply politely to people who send a nice, well thought out message, simply delete the one liners and if people don't take the hint, then I'll block them. You tend to get a feel for the type of people messaging, and these days, if there's anything about the message or someone's profile which turns me off, I'll block the user so I don't have to deal with them in the future. At the end of the day, it's a good filtering system ~ we're here to meet people who want a similar experience to us, so blocking anyone who isn't suitable is part of the vetting process.

Your Fab experience should be exactly what you want it to be, and ultimately a positive one, the block button helps to ensure this is the case.

Absolutely not

On my single profile I block if someone keeps messaging, after I've said no thanks.

Or if they try and change my mind about chatting /meeting .

The block button is a good tool on here.

I’ve never understood why some guys repeatedly message despite a polite no thanks

Most of the time it’s messages about the weather or how are you today

Your life, your profile. If you want to maximise your fab experience learn what works for you. Learn and use the site tools.

Set filters, reply no thanks if you wish then block to prevent further contact...good luck and enjoy.

Ou block list grows every day, we don’t block everyone who sends an unsolicited message as such - We just politely reply and then block those we know we’ll never want to meet or chat with. It saves us trying to remember who’s who later on in that sense.

We ask people to block us if they feel there is no connection. Saves us looking at them in the future so therefore you should not have an issue with blocking anyone . As for someone constantly viewing you either they got altimeters or maybe to shy to mail hoping you will mail them

Being polite and having good manners is not always a two way street on here, sadly you need to take action over those who overstep your boundaries, the nice folk on here are great the not so nice can be a pain..good luck and block away x

Same here really.

I try very hard not to be rude to people but the sheer number of messages that we get means that periodic mass deletes is just the only way, and the occasional block too. Sorry single guys, it's not that we don't like you.

I block anyone I not interested in meeting, i,m not into chat. I don't think it's rude, I now send them a short message explaining why I don't want to meet them, then block because most of the time they try to persuade me to meet in a hotel ect.
