Thanks but no thanks

The North West

Has anyone ever actually received literally "a thanks but no thanks"? First time I've ever got one - I've had more positive ones, like have fun etc, or more usually just deletions - which I much prefer, but grrr to use that cliched phrase...

To be fair, thus difficult to please everyone. I've done both ~ replied with a polite 'your not for us' if someone has gone to a bit of effort with their message, and just deleted the one liners. I've also been on the receiving end of both.

I'm sure different people refer different responses to messages, it's impossible to judge how to react if you don't know the sender.

Try not to take it personally, it's unlikely to be meant that way.

Surely that’s better than not replying at all?

Don't see the problem tbh. It's polite enough.

OK fair enough - interesting reading people's views. I guess it's subjective. FOR ME, ideally I massively prefer a deletion...(I must confess I'm not a huge fan of blocks which again I've just had) or as one of the comments above shows a less cliched and more more friendly rejection...I personally find thanks but no thanks somewhat passive aggressive.

I just got a request for meet and I just ignored and will delete when I do a tidy up. Haven't wasted anyones time.

Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t understand them. Annoys the hell out of me when I hear of people doing. Just no need.

I was once browsing profiles (on fabguys I think it was) and viewed a profile that was actually a couple. Few mins later received a message from them saying something along the lines of “don’t you ever f**king look at our profile again you fat, micro penised freak hahaha”

That's a fair point. I hadn't thought of it like that.

If you're not getting many responses you're probably going to get excited when your Messages button is lit up, only to be disappointed when you read it.

You've helped to confirm the strategy of simply deleting messages as it seems the kindest option.

"Jeez,if you don't reply your called rude, now it's not acceptable to say thanks but no thanks?

Unbelievable

I find it perfectly acceptable, but not the abuse I’ve had in the past for “daring to message”

You should see the abuse us women get for declining. We go from "Hiya gorgeous" to "you fat ugly bitch" instantly.

Oh, that dented male ego...

Maybe it’s just me but I really don’t understand them. Annoys the hell out of me when I hear of people doing. Just no need.

I was once browsing profiles (on fabguys I think it was) and viewed a profile that was actually a couple. Read it and could clearly tell I wasn’t “up to their standards” so closed it down and carried on. Few mins later received a message from them saying something along the lines of “don’t you ever f**king look at our profile again you fat, micro penised freak hahaha”

Oh how i cried myself to sleep that night (after viewing the profile anyone 10+ times) lol

That's totally unnecessary and uncalled for. Any point in reporting these people? Like to think fab wouldn't allow this, but not sure if they'd be able to keep up x"

I did report it but never heard anything back so no idea if anything was actually done. Was quite a while ago now mind. Luckily not everyone is like it lol

I must confess I know only a small amount of single guys maybe a half dozen but I would term them as quality due to the following. The people they play with and the connections they have. The manner in which they conduct themeselves be it at a social club or party and the way they behave when introduced to a friend or play partner. Most of them get the scene rather than just wishing to get laid and none to my knowledge would be seen dead complaining in the forums that they can’t get a meet.

I hope this helps

Some may but I’ve never assumed anything on here.To me there is a difference between couples who lift their filters occasionally to cater purely for themeselves and those who enjoy and understand properly the hotwife scenario which may lead to something on a longer term basis. Its my preference to block the “single men we will find you brigade” as it is also for few guys and indeed ladies I know

I agree with you. I too think it’s patronising. I will either give a personalised rejection or none at all. But I will not say ‘thanks but no thanks’. I’m shocked that so many guys would prefer that to being ignored. Not that I’m defending the rude guys, but I guess it does jarr with them perhaps in a way that a less personal ignore doesn’t. I do wonder what happen if men had to deal with inboxes full of ‘thanks but no thank’ messages. Would the complaint be flipped around and men say ‘why are women so blunt with their rejections? Can’t they just quietly delete instead of rub the rejection in our face?’
