Hi all, how do you work out the fakers on here,not the really obvious ones, the ones that have full profiles, we are now looking at verified only but I believe even some of them are faked.

I'd be amazed if any user here has a 100% success rate for avoiding the fakes/timewasters. Some, as you say, are obvious, but sadly even those who are verified aren't necessarily a safe bet. I've been here for 8 years and I still get caught out - more often than I care to admit....

Men pretending to be women or couples will want sex chat almost straight away.

You can reverse search images to get an idea if they're using generic pictures. Although lots of people have images on different sites.

I always trust my gut instinct, it usually serves me well. But if there's any niggling doubt, one way of finding out if someone is real or not, is to ask them to take very specific photo just for you (it's easy enough to upload a photo directly in a message or as private which can then be attached to a message). Most people won't have a problem with that if they're genuine, you can always explain you've been messed around before and just want to be sure before you take things any further.

We always ring everyone we plan to meet on FaceTime, kik or Skype . But it’s generally fairly easy to see which people are real by how they talk to you .

Your profile could come across as being a fake now. You have had no meets and haven’t cammed since last summer . So we would be wary that you are a single guy now.

But the more you chat with someone the better you are at finding out if they are real or not. And always arrange to meet them out first. We will always plan a night out first and then invite someone to join us that way if they don’t show then it makes no difference . Rather than them not showing ruining your night .

We start by first looking at the profile is it more than one sentence, how long have they been on the site, do they have any photos.

Do they have verification's if so how many and are any from those we know to be genuine, it is amazing how many have one verification always from a single guy.

After that it a case of swapping face picture, if really unsure asking to speak on the photo (normally ladies speaking). Try to arrange a social first that will stop many fakes instantly.

Finally it has to be gut instinct if something does feel right then don't arrange to meet.

One thing we have found to be useful is not to do all the running if you have suggested the date then ask them to suggest somewhere to meet, for some reason a lot of profiles go quiet when they are being asked to make decisions.

I have noticed a few fakes on here aswell I've had some real issues with even getting a hello I'm polite in my messages more than willing to go for a coffee somewere photo verified and a site supporter but still not enough makes me think if this site is actually real sometimes but I will keep at it and see what happens

I've not come across many local fakes, but the key indicators for me are; no, or limited photos, early sex chat, no verifications and poorly written profiles.

The suggestion previously of a staged private message photo, is a very simple way and ing!

You either get a reply showing that they are genuine ( normally ) , or silence .

What do you mean fake? Every profile has a person behind it.

This is the only site I've ever found that doesn't use bots that generate fake profiles.

A man (which it tends to be )pretending to be a woman or a couple on here is classed as a fake profile, not purporting to be who they are in other words, but quite rightly said there is a person behind every profile, some unfortunately are just liars and untruthful.

Usually on the images, in that they don't fit the profile or are, just, too good, and with a little reverse searching have been lifted from some random porn site.

An inability to spell the name of the town, or city, that they purport to live in.

Status updates that directly conflict with having been on FS for months with no verified meeting.

A suitably long list of visible 'friends'.

We're always running into timewasters lately..even to the point where we are hours from a meet and it goes peas shaped and these are verified couples too..we don't get what they get out of it..very annoying....our time is precious but some people think that it's funny to mess us about..

There was a piece on Radio 4, a couple of weeks ago, about no-shows at restaurants.

It appears that people are booking several tables, at different restaurants, for the same night and, then, deciding on the night which one to eat at.

Not surprisingly, it's a behaviour that is hurting the smaller outfits.

I'm sure the couples that drop out are at the last minute can, similarly, be described as complete twats.

I've seen this friends list option on the privacy settings but we can't view anyone's friends list and I'm not sure if anyone can see ours ?
