In our experience a one word answer is an indication that they aren't interested but are replying to be polite.

This is one of our main gripes at the moment.

We receive a message that says just “hi”.

Think ok, maybe testing the waters so reply with a message after looking at their profile to try and make it relevant.

Get back “lol”

If you can’t hold a conversation or take the time to speak to us why on earth would we want to play with you.

As a single guy on here it’s kind of a win that you got a response at all I suppose though!

Thanks, i reply to everyone as i like to think im polite i coukdnt tell you how many nessages i get from guys when it clearly states im straight but i still reply saying thanks but not for me surely that is much easier then replying one word everytime i reckon i could have a convo with them just would take me maybe 5 days to find out an answer to a simple question

Are you the male or female ? It is helpful if couples profiles let us know who is posting.

Exactly this!

We sometimes will reply as the message is a nice one and one we'd like to acknowledge but not encourage. A smily face or even a thumbs up we'll use without the follow up. Some may say, why even do that but like we said, it's a show of appreciation, nice words about pics for example.

Are you just asking a question though?

We make it clear we don't do chat so if someone tries to engage us in chat we may play along being rather blunt

You forgot to mention that your initial message to the attractive fem was the usuaul "Fancy a shag?"

Her answer was one word "No"

You replied "blow job then darlin?"

"No"

Just a background character

I'd read a one word "thanks" type reply as a polite "no thanks" and leave it there.

That's what I do if I have time. I'd add more if I wanted to chat!

Oh I tink I misunderstood the point. One word responses in a conversation?

Stop asking closed questions that have 'yes' or 'no' or some other 'one word' option as the answer!

I’ve become quite conscious from the forums that a lot of men regard it as very rude for messages to be ignored. Therefore I might reply in order to be polite, but I’ll keep my reply as brief as possible in order to discourage conversation. So i’ll often answer messages monosyllabically by saying something like ‘thanks’ or ‘cool’ or ‘ok’. If we want to chat, then we’ll be a bit more forthcoming.

I would nevet start a convo like that i have a bit more respect for people and myself.

We often get the standard 'nice pics'

message.

If the sender isn't for us we'll usually just reply 'thanks, to be polite

If that is the case why not spend another 10 seconds writing thank you but not for me? Why entice a response?

I think some people (including women) have poor conversation skills. Also in your last reply did you give them much ammunition to reply back to? Some replies can be wordy but still closed. The fire needs stoking from both sides.

I try to strike up conversation i need some sort of connection, im not asking advise from people what to say i get enough meets im all good on that front it was more of a rant of something that pisses me off and to see if anyone else feels the same way which by some of the comments on here they do.
