It's a fact of life that some men just don't suit beards, but on the right face, when it's groomed and looked after, a good beard is sexy as hell.

That's interesting, I have a beard or is it long stubble? 2.5mm is what I have and groomed. Wifey likes it, so don't care what others think, but interested to know where stubble ends and a beard starts

That's a good question, I would suggest the answer is subjective ~ facial hair is facial hair, does it matter whether you call it stubble or a beard? As long as you (and your partner) like it, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.

She really goes for bearded men and he has had one for 20 years or so.

For us, a beard should be a real beard rather than just not shaving for a few days, in our opinion that looks really scruffy. If you're going to grow a beard, grow a beard!

In the Royal Navy of old, you had to request permission to grow a beard. It had to be a 'full set' in other words, not shaped. After a month if your beard didn't look good, permission was refused and it had to come off.

However, some men can't grow beards, it's genetic. In that case, best not to try.
